Fantastic! But have to drain oil before storing?

We bought this during a multi day power outage to save the contents of 2 freezers, and in that respect it was great. Much more portable than a traditional wheeled generator and had more than enough capacity and surprisingly long run time. But now I am looking to put it into storage until its next needed. Page 24 says more than 6 months storage, drain float bowl, fuel and a small amount of oil in spark plug hole. Which I would expect. BUT page 22, instructions for draining fuel tank and carb float bowl says 'To prevent damage to the unit, drain engine oil before emptying fuel tank'. What!? So you have to drain the oil before you can siphon the tank empty? And then what, refill it? What a pain if so, and how does that make any sense. Cant I just empty the float bowl, siphon out the fuel and leave the oil in the unit? PS. my unit included a flyer promising a free cover if I left a review so hopefully I do receive that.

Hurricane Readiness

We recently moved to the coastal Southeast and wanted to be prepared for hurricane season. I bought the iGen2550DFc along with a battery power bank to ensure that we can immediately power essential appliances and equipment and ensure the capability to operate without grid power for an extended period of time. Space is at a premium in our new house. The iGen2550DFc met my needs for size, portability and output. The dual fuel capability was also important, as it's such a hassle to store and maintain gasoline for extended periods, even with stabilizer. I always have a couple of 20-lb LP tanks around; if they run out I can always switch to gasoline. And this generator sips gas at such a slow rate that I don't have to keep a lot on hand. First impressions are great. The generator came securely packaged and the operating instructions are clear. Finish quality is good, and the control/output panel is intuitive. I was able to get it started on propane within a few minutes of connecting it to the tank. I was impressed with how quiet it is...a pleasant change from generators that I've previously owned.

Excellent DF Generator Invertor

This is a very tight and quiet unit. Currently in the break in period, but all is going well so far. Impressed with the size and sound, Bought primarily to charge trolling motor batteries and whatever other small to medium electric needs i may have when away from a wall outlet. I wanted dual fuel, parallel capability, and RV plug to future proof this purchase. Does not have (i don't need) a 12V plug. I researched competitors in this size range until i was dizzy, but this unit kept coming to the top for my current and future needs.

Very Satisfied...

Totally new to inverter generators...needed a generator to power our home oil furnace in case of a long power outage...after a long time taking to research what to buy...the Westinghouse iGen2550C was our number 1 choice. As we write this review, and having used only a few times the unit our first impression is an Aplus (satisfied)...the unit is lightweight 40Lbs, easy to operate, one pull gets it started and is extremely quiet. No regrets at all.

This iGen2550 inverter generator is awesome

This iGen2550 inverter generator is awesome! Couldn't believe how quiet it runs. Add a 15 Amp load and you can barely hear any increase in speed/sound. Easy to start. Great digital indicators. Easily runs my table saw, miter saw, or other tools (one at a time). Love it.

Runs my small camper

I have a small camper. It runs both the A/C and microwave just fine at the same time. It's not really to obnoxious when it comes to how loud it is. Run it for a short period of time to cool down the camper or microwave something. Runs the 110 plugs just fine. It's easy to start up and switch from Gas to Propane even while running. It is touchy though on the oil level. To much it will shut itself down and to little it will not start. The Dip stick is a little hard to read with fresh oil and it plastic. I personally prefer a metal dip stick so the oil shin is more prominent over the gray plastic. Overall shall see how it holds up to beating around in the bed of a pickup truck boondocking.

IGen2550c is a perfect generator for camping!

Currently I own Honda, Yamaha and Predator generators of different sizes and costs. I was a bit skeptical at first when I saw all the positive reviews on the iGen 2550. but I placed an order and it was on my deck in under a week. I followed the break-in instruction and ran it for a couple hours varying the load. I was extremely impressed on not only how quiet it ran, but how smooth it was running. I changed the oil and pulled the handle one time as it fired right up. For about 1/3 the cost of a Honda, I would definitely say the is a must have!

Comments and questions.

The serial nr tag is not on the muffler cover as shown in your FAQ. Support advises this number on the cover is the serial number 25G0523B534. The lock on one side cover fell apart while running. The latch and screw are presumably under the engine/gen unit somewhere but I have been unable see it or shake it it out. Where can I get new latch parts?

Loved how quiet it is

I bought it recently and used it to keep refrigerator working during power outage. It's nice and small and at 77 years old, I can carry it where I need it. We have two children living in town and we share with whoever needs it. Again its quietness is important as we live in a condo association. I also like having the Eco mode although I didn't use it this time with the fridge, I'm looking forward to trying it on the proper load.

Perfect little generator

I purchased this to have for small/short power outages. Since my power goes out some times for more than a few hours but less than 8 hours, I wanted something small to hookup just my refrigerator and a light. This is perfect. It's small enough and love how quite it is. Love dual fuel option, but will only be using propane probably.
