This little scanner is simple to set up and easy to use. It takes up virtually no space on my desktop and allows me to scan anything I need. I was skeptical that such a compact scanner could scan quickly and accurately, but this product preforms beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a small but powerful scanner!

It was very easy to install and easy to use, especially for people like me who are constantly on the go and don`t always have the option of being by a printer/scanner. I travel a lot with my job so this was perfect and worked great while I was on the go. I`ve used scanners in the past that weren`t as easy or durable and the paper would constantly get caught on the wires but I didn`t have this problem here.

I`m always looking for a way to make my job as an Executive Assistant more efficient. Expense reports can be a time-consuming process with the number of receipts I need to scan per expense report. But, when using this scanner, it made my job much easier! It`s super light and compact, which is much more ideal than normally have to use our large printer/scanner. An old document scanner I had in the past was essentially the same size as a piece of paper (which took up a lot of desk space,) but this scanner I can easily store away in a drawer. I like that it connects through a USB and doesn`t have tons of cords to manage. I`m looking forward to using this for other tasks, like scanning old photos!

I thought this item was plug and play, but our office computer is a bit old so it didn`t work out that way. The Brother website was set up very well, I had little issue finding the correct drivers to get this scanner working. Our company is currently in a hiring frenzy, so there are a lot of documents to scan in and send around. This scanner would feed drivers licence and other hard plastic documents with ease, and the colors looked amazing. Additionally, it was fast and easy to feed multiple documents into the scanner. The software made editing and saving easy. The price point on this scanner is more than fair for what you can do with it.

Compact form factor with quality construction. Quickly produces quality single or double sided scans. Big pain point is that there is no way to reset the scanner after it reports a jam. Spent time with customer support but there is no reset short of unplugging the printer. Unfortunate because it as otherwise great scanner.

Item: Brother DS-740DPhysical: I really enjoyed the physical size the the brother scanner. It`s small and powerful, which gives me the space to store it anywhere and the power to do what I need to do. It is also pretty light which gives me the opportunity to carry it in my bag when I am on the go meeting with my students and clients. Assembly: This scanner was simple to put together. I really enjoyed the fact that I didn`t have to plug anything into the wall, but everything was powered by the micro USB cord that was connected to the computer. The connectivity to connect the scanner to my phone was also an easy process. I could see older populations possibly having a challenge with a product due to their lack of experience with modern day technology. Connivence: I believe this product is extremely convenient for a person like me. As a person who is always on the go working with clients being mobile is something that is necessary. With the size and assembly listed earlier I believe this product is extremely convenient. I would even argue with the easy set up that it`ll be easy to not only scan to my personal computer, but also scan to others if necessary. Lastly the email cloud feature is so convenient Storage: I liked the fact that the scanner has an opportunity for users to save items multiple ways. Not only can you scan items to a phone or computer, one can also utilize a micro SD. Though I would more prone to utilize the phone or computer feature, I believe the micro SD being there is extremely convent. Battery Life: The battery life was just as sated in the manual.

I've had the 740D for about 1 month now, I have not used all that much, but so far it's been relatively working well. I love the convenience of it especially the duplex scanning, portability and size. Seems well made. However, I have a few issues with it thus far. Document jams: on a few occasions, when feeding a page, if the scanner doesn't accept the document 100% perfectly, it stops, I then easily remove the page from the feeder. The iPrint app displays the "document jam" error and the only way to continue is to either close the app or unplug the unit from my laptop. Next issue is that seems like the unit is not very generous in accepting paper that is a somewhat heavier stock. Jams frequently. Last minor issue is with the iPrint app. I have a 2nd Brother Multi-function print/scanner connected, so if I decide to use the alternate device when scanning, the drop down menu only shows the current device and not the alternate printer. User must click add device and then takes you back to the devices connected page and choose from there. It's not a major issue but, my viewpoint is what's the point of the device drop-down menu if it only displays the 1 device, although there's 2 connected to the laptop. Mind you, the alternate printer L2710DW is connected both wireless and USB. I briefly procrastinated about returning it but decided that I could live with it. I'll conclude by saying that of all the years I've been using printer scanner technologies, Brother has been definitely the most reliable.
