Fantastic tire for a typical car/crossover use

We replaced the OE Yokohama tires on our Mazda CX-5 with these before they were fully worn. The Generals are far more comfortable (softer sidewall and reduced tread noise), and offer significantly more grip in wet conditions. I wouldn't put these on a sports car, but for someone who wants long treadwear, safety, and value, these are hard to beat. The difference in ride quality is night and day. If you have a crossover and don't like how they all seem to ride harsh, try these tires. It made a huge improvement to ride quality without spoiling the handling of the vehicle.  In the past we've used General Altimax Arctic tires exclusively for our winter tires, but this is our first all season tires from them. Tire Rack did measured tests of them and it's truly impressive how they perform for the price. I'm very glad I bought these.

What I like

I have 3 sets of these tire on a CRV, Outback, and Element. They are great tires. I like the fact that they are quiet tires that don't generate a lot of road noise. The vehicles are all AWD, and I live in North East,  Ohio which gets a lot of snow. They work well in snow and on wet roads, they get good traction, and stop straight. I haven't been in a warranty situation but I expect them to have a long life. The tires were competitively priced and I try to rotate them regularly. I recommend these tires to my friends.

excellent in inclement weather

We live in Southern California and bought new tires in preparation for a Thanksgiving trip through Utah and into Oregon.  Sure enough we hit snow at one of the higher passes and we made it through safely - with more than 50 cars on our side of the road that had slid off the road.  We were very grateful.

Second set...works great

These replaced my first set and I was happy with first set.  I expect to be happy with these. The first set lasted about 40k of hard city pothole driving and couple of nail in the street punctures. They started to crack 6 years after purchase and had to be replaced. Can't beat that.

One of the best set of tires that I have owned.

Bought these tires about 3 weeks ago for a trip from OH to FL on our mini van.  The trip down was dry weather and the ride was very quiet and smooth.  The way back home however was down pour and high cross winds.  The tires really held up during that trip.  I hit standing water on the freeway going about 60 mph at about 11:30PM, scared me, but noticed that the van held it's grip to the road.  If I had to do it all over again I would and will buy these tires in the future.

Great for the purpose on light SUV

KIA Sportage 2016  Initially they would hold a flat spot upon first leaving the garage.  Temperature in the morning about 45. As they warm up - about 5-8 minutes - any slight out of roundness smooths out.  Just 6000 mi. now and feels like they are setting in to there elasticity without and indication of flat spots. Keep the recommended tire pressure and you will enjoy the low road noise and extended handling of these tires on a light SUV.

Great tire!!!

Running these on my 1995 Ford Escort Wagon and I am SO satisfied with these tires. I have had them for two years with no wearing showing. These are better than Cooper or Michelin and I have ran both on the Escort. It's General Tires for me from now on.

Fantastic

I recently put the Altimax all-seasons on my 2005 Accord and am loving them. I've had the same tires on my 2000 Camry and was glad I went with them again. During Wisconsin's biggest snow storm in decades my Accord's tires really impressed me. The rain and snow performance is better than the equivalent Michelin and almost as smooth/quiet on dry pavement. The biggest advantage of the General Altimax over the equivalent Michelin is the value.  It's as good of a tire for much less. My parents also use the Altimax on their 2008 Odyssey and have had very good luck with multiple sets. The weight of a minivan wears any passenger tire relatively quickly, so the value of Altimax really comes into play. They previously ran Michelin's which were a little smoother/quieter in the dry but not worth the price difference. The Altimax lasts a little longer and performs in weather just as well. I highly recommend the General Altimax. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Only had them a few months but truly impressed

Put a set of these on my wife's 2016 Lincoln MKS Eco Boost last fall. So far we both are enjoying a smooth, comfortable and quiet ride. Winter here in central NY has not been bad this year but when the roads have been snow or slush covered, these tires have performed admirably. If the ride and performance stay on par I just might have to change my rating to five stars.

Quiet ride

Tires ride well very quiet. Installed in the fall and drove them all winter. 150 miles per day commute even in the worst storms these were confident traction. Didn't replace my snow tires after seeing how the went. Glad I purchased these RT43s. I typically replace the factory tires with Kumho and have run them in the past. These Generals are better in the wet and snow conditions than any Kumhos which is why I was putting on snow tires. Just rotated after 25k and rebalance. No wear showing at all and ride is great on highway for over 2 hours a day. Will buy them again. Just watch your speed ratings. I found the 205/55R15s came in an uncommon T speed rating but after breaking them in it doesn't seem to matter much when driving normal speeds and low speed cornering.
