This is a very dry, barky mixture, I’m sure it will eventually make a decent dirt mixture, but at first it resembles mulch.

I use this for big and small pots of flowers and herbs. My plants appear healthy and I haven't had any complaints about the quality of soil. A 55 quart bag of this soil weighs about 27 pounds.

I have purchased Miracle Grow soil from Sam’s for years. The bags this year have small pieces of wood and small rocks. I am going to look for other products at a local nursery from now on.

Not sterile, ruined 7 plants. First started with gnats and weeds growing. I got those under control with neem then started seeing soil mites. Within 2wks all my plants in one location were completely overrun with soil mites. Crawling all over the pot and countertop. I tried for 3 months to correct the issue and I tried EVERYTHING. Not very happy and I'll never try miracle gro mix again. Not worth the risk. Apparently soil mites are beneficial but there was hundreds, thousands probably and I can't live knowing there are so many in my bedroom. Yuck. Several of the plants I've had for years, never seen anything like this infestation.

Great product for a beginner, with zero knowledge. i actually had to restart my germation %26 my local Walmart has this product. part of the process is now understanding that they only need to be watered every 4 days, while in solo cups. i would recommed, or use again.

I have used this product for over two years now. My plants have survived and thrived. Years past, my plants died-all of them. No matter the pot, my plants survive now. (Now days, I have begun to recycle padded mailing envelops to line the pot sides so they aren't quite as susceptible to the extreme Texas weather. )

Well, at least after reading the reviews on Miracle Gro Potting Soil, I know I'm not crazy! I have used this product for years and this year purchased 2 bags. Upon opening the first bag, I was surprised to see how much wood and bark material it contained-almost no soil! I started my potting and continued with the second bag which also had much bark and wood material. I planted my annuals all-$180.00 of them. The soil is terrible, doesn't drain and I finally called Miracle Gro with the complaint. They claim they haven't changed anything but are refunding me my money-now I have to repot all and will use a pro. mix. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

According to many online reviews, I'm not the first to have bad experiences with this product! Weeks after transplanting my seedlings, the fungus gnats hatched and invaded my home. The website for this product states that the soil is NOT sterilized and if you have a gnat problem you need to make a further purchase of sand to cover your soil. Supposedly this gets rid of the gnats. I've had this problem with EVERY bag I have purchased over the last few years. I have continued to buy because I was hoping it wouldn't be EVERY bag, but now I'm tired of wasting my money. Scott's continues to make all sorts of excuses why this mixture is full of wood mulch, smells like a landfill and is infested, yet there are other products whose mix does not do these things. Save your money and buy a different brand!

I had used MiracleGro potting mix for many years. It's what my mother has always used and I continued the tradition. The past few years I've noticed that this potting mix actually contains very little soil and is actually a mix of twigs, wood chips and peat moss that does not seem to absorb water. It almost seems to repel it. I contacted Scotts a couple of years ago and took advantage of their satisfaction guarantee. I let them know I was not at all happy. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
