Arrived with damaged packaging and dents to control panel and generator cover on end. Removed cover inspected for damage to wires and repaired cover Added oil and fresh gas to generator. Opened gas valve, several attempts to start were unsuccessful. Started up after a shot of starting fluid and ran without any problems for 1 hour. Shut down and changed oil for rest of break in period. Packaging could be much better, will update after rest of break in and if I receive the generator cover as advertised in the paper work included with product for doing this review.

After two power outages in only a couple of months time, we knew it was time to invest in a generator. We did lots of research and felt the Westinghouse dual fuel at this price was the best option for us. Looks to be built well - love the remote! Not that I'm hoping for a power outage, but can't wait to use for the next emergency.

The item is heavy and I do recommend to have two people to work on assembly. The the process to add legs and wheels took about 10 min, it took me another 10 min to add oil and connect propane tank. I also charge battery for another 10 min, but it wasn't necessary - in 30 min I had my generator up in running. Also, I was pleasantly surprised how compact the item for the power its generate.

Truly great looking unit. Controls are easy to find and are very intuitive to use. The manuals are very easy to understand and follow. The dual fuel capability is a big plus, especially when one fuel might only be available in very limited supply. Very happy with purchase so far. Looking forward to many years of service from this generator.

I like the dual fuel capability. I use this generator once a year in a remote cabin site in Wyoming, so the dual fuel option is a plus. It provides plenty of power for the daytime projects as well as maintaining our solar battery bank when its needed. I haven't used it extensively yet note the 4-star rating.

I live on an island on the coast of Maine with the incumbent power failures, and purchased the Westinghouse 9500 DF about six months ago (99 hours of use) to replace my PowerStroke 6000 which is eight years old, still runs great, but wasn't quite powerful enough to carry my whole house electrical system, and was getting older. This Westinghouse has been nothing but a disappointment. It constantly ”revs”, blinking the house lights when it has very little load. It shuts off on its own whim, sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't. I've had all types of problems, both on traditional gas and using propane with it.(dual fuel) It seems to have no more power than my older 6000, despite claims that it's much more powerful. In general, I use my much older smaller generator as my primary and only use this Westinghouse as a back up because I can never tell if it's gonna run correctly. I've learned my lesson on buying this manufactures products. It won't happen again.

I am still in the process of getting this set up for use on my house but still able to use it for any other situations like power tools, camper, and ice fishing. The dual fuel option is probably my favorite part so far because I have multiple options to power the generator. Easy to put together, so easy in fact I was working with my 4 year old son.

Ease of setup This generator is easy to setup and maintain. I especially like the remote control and the dual fuel option. I had my electrician setup a manual transfer switch. I haven't needed to use it yet but the initial setup and test with a propane tank worked like a charm.

We bought this unit in February. We have a 1300 sq foot cabin in a remote area where power outage is common. I have had several occasions to test it out. It has performed flawlessly. We have a 30 amp plug outside the house for a camper hookup. We use that to back feed the house breaker panel. When the power goes out, we shut down the main, shut off the hot water heater and dryer, and turn on the 30 amp from the generator. It runs everything else in the cabin with no issue. Including the well pump, and the 2 ton geothermal heat pump. I was hauling the generator from the tractor shed with each outage, but just retrofit a sun cast shed just for the generator, complete with sound insulation, vent fan and exhaust extension. I also ran a direct line from the cabin's propane tank which we use for the gas logs and grill. No more hauling the generator, no more hauling gas, and it is MUCH quieter. I just flip the run switch to ON and press the start button. My wife is comfortable doing it on her own. I do wish I could use the remote button to start the unit. Then I wouldn't need to go outside at all. But to use the remote start button, you first have to go outside to turn on the run switch. Kind of defeats the purpose of the remote start button. I called Westinghouse to ask about leaving the run switch on permanently, but they said it powered up 6 different components and would damage the unit if I left it on. Anyway, I am very happy with the 9500df. Lots of power. Starts every time. Dual fuel is a great plus.

I bought this a few weeks ago and am glad I did. Shipping and packaging was great. Very well made. Assembly was a breeze. It did take me a few minutes to locate the remote. It was not in a box like I expected it to be, but was clipped to the recoil starter handle. Once filled with oil and gas, she started up on the second style. Noise was about what I expected, but overall am satisfied with the generator. I feel prepared for the next outage now.
