Reliable and Flexible Generator!

We've had enough of our power company turning off the power for days on end to avoid wildfires, so purchased this dual fuel generator. We love this thing - it can power our entire house during these outages, and the best part is that it runs on propane so we are able to avoid keeping smelly gasoline around!!

Flexible whole-house back up

I added this product to my home backup system to deal with frequent and long power outages. When combined with a transfer switch, I can now run my whole house and don't have to choose which loads to run and only have certain lights available. Th This unit came with plenty of extras (and all the things you'd expect, like the starting battery). It came with a battery tender, an oil funnel and a propane hose and natural gas hose. I like the flexibility of not being stuck to gasoline and having to stabilize it between usage.

New WGen9500DFc

I live in the Tampa Bay area and bought this dual fuel use generator a couple of weeks ago. We have an inground 200 gallon LP tank and I like the idea we'll be able to run the generator for extended periods without the risk of running out of fuel in the event of power outages due to hurricanes or other unforeseen circumstances. Now I just have to figure out how run power from the generator to the various appliances and portable AC. Hoping there's a way to wire into our main electric panel and run sections of the house from there by shutting off the main breaker and all other breakers other than those where we need power (e.g., kitchen, master bedroom w/portable AC). Will do more research and determine what's best and safest.

Wanted duel fuel

When attaching feet, one stud would need thread in as that hole had never been tapped. Also serial number for warranty registration is not where expressed included paper work in packet shipped with generator. You will find location when you register on line

Suprised how easy it is to move for 250 lbs.

Just received item. Started right away, I just was unable to start it with the pull cord. It is tough and I'm strong enough. I have not hooked it up to propane yet, but I think this will work great. I bought this because then we likely will never have a hurricane like Ian, last year. It was like insurance, spend the money, then you won't need it.

Follow common small engine procedures. Happy

UPDATE: Review now 4 Stars. While waiting a week for a customer service response, I began troubleshooting. Fuel in fuel lines. Check. Petcock. Check. Fuel in Carb bowl. Check. AutoChoke. Properly functioning. Took off air cleaners and added squirted in starter fluid. Coughed. Two more times and it started on gas. Still start on propane. Check. As silly as this exercise was it SHOULD HAVE BEEN LISTED IN THE TROUBLESHOOTING section of the manual. The reply I received from customer service a week later, didn't mention this simple procedure either. as many people that are EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE they should address this. Hope this helps someone. WOULD BUY AGAIN. Use non-ethanol fuel, use an additive, and start 1x a month. You should have a great generator. HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE. Prior review: Arrived today. Will not start or operate on gasoline. Started right up with propane. Sent immediate email to Westinghouse support. Waiting for a reply. Will update this review as they respond. Delivery was week late after being canceled several times. Box was tore up but generator looked undamaged. Not as heavy as other reviews seemed to indicate but it is too heavy for one person to lift. Moves fine with wheels though. Many other reviews mention my same problem, but none appear to have been updated with what happened. One did say another generator was sent with opposite problem… will update.

2nd westinghouse generator love them both!

My second This is my second Westinghouse generator. I bought this one to run my well when we lose electricity. It does the job with power left over for my household power needs. Couldn't be happier with this generator as well as my first one which I use to run my welder. Thanks for a great product!

Product arrived in perfect condition. Easy to assemble and prepare for operation. Will be ready with this unit for whole house electrical here in Florida when the need arises. Would highly recommend for those needing whole house electricity if need arises.

Great features easy operation

We live in Fla. bought this generator for backup to replace 23 year old unit of half its size. Electric start and operation on propane were features that helped me make this choice. Hooked it up and started the 5 hour break in period the manual said not to laod more than half load and to vary load for first 5 hours. Tried to vary the load by doing things that strained the old generator like running the microwave which is about a 1000w laod it didn't even fade this one. So I disconnected one of the 4500w elements in my electric water heater and flipped on the breaker and could tell it put a load on it. Plan on doing this when using it for backup power so as not to strain the unit to its max. Preformed perfect it runs the rest of the normal things in the house with no problems runs window acunits with no strain. Will try the central ac unit after breaking. Impressive so far. Hope it lasts as long as my old unit witch I am confident it will

Solid looking

I just bought this a week ago. It looks good. it came with the gas and propane cords, a quart of oil, and a battery charger. After the electrical hookups, I will test it to see if it runs the whole house as others have declared. I'm excited about the prospects.
