It took me less than thirty minutes to unbox the generator, install the wheels and feet, fill the engine with the included oil, using the included funnel, connect the battery and get it started and running on propane. Excellent manual and assembly instructions! The control panel is easy to work with and understand. Everything is easily accessible on the unit. I will use this as standby for our home connecting it to our primary control panel. Very pleased with the purchase!

I did a lot of research on generators and looked all over the internet for a portable generator that could power our home in case of shut offs or outages. I purchased the 9500 DF generator and so far have only operated on gas but it starts easily and runs smooth. It has many great features that are important to me, it is ready to operate out of the box with the supplies it comes with. It comes with oil, the gas regulator and, my favorite, the remote start. It is relatively quiet considering its size, it is about as loud as my older 2500w generator. its also very easy to operate which is important to me so that if I am not home my wife does not have to mess with our old one and can just start up and run. I was very impressed with the quality of everything on the unit and will definitely be using Westinghouse more in the future.

We bought this generator a month ago after the Macroburst. This thing has plenty of power and is easy to use. Being duel fuel is a plus, when we ran it on propane there was no significant loss of power for my needs........and it always seems every time the power goes out, your gas cans are always empty.

My family used Westinghouse products and they never fail! I purchased a generator for my house when I lose power from severe weather conditions. Westinghouse makes a generator that won't fail, lists every single item for maintenance and schedule! Can never go wrong with Westinghouse!

We bought this as a just in case backup power source and boy are we glad we did. We live in the panhandle of Florida and had several thunderstorms with high winds come through our area. A tree blew over and knocked down the power pole and of course out went the power. Our backup generator gave us reassurance that we would be fine and we were. We've since had an install of a direct connection to our breaker box so we won't need the long extension cords and we feel ready to power up with our WGen 9500 DF with that reassuring secure feeling it provides. We may purchase another on for our other house in PA. Thanks for this product.

Received my Westinghouse 9500DF generator, and overall I'm very pleased with it. I set it up this week to connect to my transfer switch to power some critical circuits in my house during power failures, which are unfortunately very common in the winter here in the Poconos. Contrary to other reviews, I found the owners manual to be completely accurate. I'm running the unit with gasoline, and I also have a 40lb propane tank hooked up for longer outages. Switching between fuel sources while the unit is running is very simple, though the unit will stumble while the fuels are being purged, so I recommend removing load during a switch over to avoid a stall. Starting the unit using the electric start is a real pleasure compared to the recoil starter on my old unit. A couple of caveats that aren't clear in the pre-purchase material: 1) The 14-30 plug on the unit provides a maximum of 30 amps, as expected, but be aware that this means a maximum wattage of 7500 watts is intended to be carried on that cable. If you need the full 9500 running wattage, that can only be supplied by the 50amp RV connector, which will not hook up directly to a 30 amp transfer switch. 2) In order to use the electric start (on the unit or using the remote) the battery switch on the generator must be in the "on" position. This limits the utility of using the remote starter unless you've anticipated a power outage and had the forsight to turn the battery switch on. 3) The comes with a bonded neutral, which may not be appropriate for use with older transfer switches which do not switch the neutral. In that circumstance, instructions are provided to make a minor alteration to unbond the neutral, but if you do, be aware that the GFCI protection on the built-in outlets will be lost, which could present a hazard. Better to not use the built-in outlets if you're going to be unbonding the neutral. Overall, a very solid product. I'll be sure to follow up after I've used it through a northeast winter.

For now, I am very happy with my purchase experience and am expecting that the product (9500DF generator) will work as promised, and match other excellent reviews.

This Gen is for Emergancies Only. To run my house and Sewage pump and heaters. I love that it has a 50amp Plug which I think everyone should use if your Gen has one. and Love that it has remote start. will update review when running break in period.

I was torn between this and a cheaper brand from a department store, I'm glad I went with this one! Seems like a real good quality product, everything is heavy duty, no cheap parts that I can tell. Love the electric start feature, haven't used this during an outage yet, but with natural gas , my load isn't that high. This generator will power my whole house ( minus the A/C). My only negative experience was getting it started for the first time took a lot of fighting. Electric start would not start it, I tried manually starting it as well which would not work. Lastly, I opened the carburetor cover and sprayed some starting fluid in it while it was cranking, and after three tries it fired up and ran well for an hour. Also be sure you use 5-30 synthetic if you live anywhere temps can get below 0. 1.1 quart is not enough oil to get the level within range on the dip stick, it took 1.4 .

Unit would not initially start using starter. Spent a good bit of time checking battery and connections. Finally found a loose wire going into the 10A fuse immediately after the starter. The plug is hard to get to, so spent more time loosening the control panel and relocating other harnesses to get to the problem. Once wire was reconnected, unit fired up with propane on third turn of electric starter.
