My New Go-To Pot

I bought this Dutch oven recently in the Charcoal color and I am super satisfied with its looks and performance. So far, I've cooked crawfish etouffee, shrimp pasta and cube steaks with onions and gravy (that dish required placing the pot in the oven for 45 minutes). All dishes cooked to perfection and the cleaned pot still looks brand new inside and out. Yes, it is heavy as cast iron is supposed to be. It does not need to and should not be used on high heat. A medium to medium hi is good enough to cook your food deliciously and still preserve the looks of this pot. And at this sale price, it is a complete bargain for the home cook. The available colors are also amazing and would make great, affordable gifts. Don't waste your money on more expensive pots of this kind. This is a keeper! Don't pass it up.

Great deal! You WANT this pot. You NEED this pot :)

Very impressed by quality and design, too. The stainless steel lid knob is a nice touch - even Le Creuset has bakelite (plastic) knobs unless you pay for a premium line. I've made 2 braised dishes so far and very pleased with performance and also how easy it cleans. By the time you're ready to wash it, nothing's really sticking - just fill it with hot water and use a sponge + dish soap. It's also just beautiful. And I like the shape and design of the lid a little better than some of the standard Le Creuset pots. Granted, Le Creuset has some really nifty items, but they are $350. It's pointless to argue whether Le Creuset is better. This pot costs less than shipping back to France if you ever need their lifetime warranty. It's very well made. From what I've read France and China are the only places in the world that make this type of product, at least as available to us here in the US. FWIW Lodge enameled pots are made in China too and IMHO this Tramontina is a better deal. I have several bare cast iron seasoned cookware items - skillets and a large and small camp oven. Those are great, but I've always wanted enameled - because sometimes you just want to leave the dish in the pot and move to the fridge and not worry about rusting or reseasoning. And it looks great and the light interior makes it easier to assess the progress visually (which is why they like them in cooking shows, it looks better on camera).

SAVE YOUR RECEIPT!!!

I purchased this dutch oven about a year and a half ago and it now has 3 significant chips in the porcelain. I've only used wooden or plastic spoons with it and have carefully washed it by hand. I tried to get my receipt from my local Sams Club and they couldn't find it. Tramontina will not honor the lifetime guarantee if you can't produce a receipt. I guess if you got one as a gift, you're also out of luck.

Great Cookware

Although it is heavy. I would not recommend for the very elderly. However is a good buy for the young Moms who still have those fine motor skills in their hands. Cooks Great. Easy to clean in the sink. Very worth the price. I bought two. Down side the store did not have variety of colors but am sure if you want other colors you can get them online.

Great Dutch Oven for the price

I've been needing a good Dutch oven for our vacation home, but didn't want to spend the whole bank account on the "French" version. This pot was highly rated by America's Test Kitchen in its earlier form, so I figured, how bad could it be in its new design? I'm not disappointed! It's heavy, has a roomy floor for browning food, the 6.5 quart volume is perfect for soups and stews. And it's very attractive! I'm very happy with this purchase.

Dutch Oven, get one!

Got inspired to get a Dutch oven after seeing my bro-inlaw using one. Don't know how I got along without it for so long. Used it over 30+ times for stews, soups, gumbo, roasts. Well built, solid, even heat distribution. Reduced my cooking time by 25%. And, uses less heat than other stew pots. If you cook regularly add this to your arsenal. I'll pass this down to my kids if/when I'm done with it. Someone complained it was too heavy. Its CAST IRON. Smh.

Enamel ware

I bought this two years ago and the enamel at the Bottom of the pot has wore away and has turned dark brown. It doesn't wash off and it is scratched to the iron. I think having a big dutch oven is versital but I have concerns with the integrity of the enamel coming off into my food or the rusty iron affecting the tast of the food as well.

Don't buy for baking bread!

Used according to temp. guidelines to bake bread and it showed cracks in enamel inside and discoloration on outside. Tramontina cust. service said baking bread was considered dry use and since i didn't add oil or something to bottom of pot I had voided the warranty. Bought Jan 2025. They let themselves out of honoring warranty. There were no instructions or warnings about bread baking could damage pot enamel. And pictures show bread baking as a feature. Who adds oil to pot you are baking bread in?
