Argh, I didn't realize this wasn't stick butter until I got home but it's still good. Lucky I have a digital kitchen scale to weigh it if I'm preparing a recipe. I don't use that much butter so it's going to last awhile. I froze the ones I'm not using. Did you know that you can freeze salted butter for up to 12 months?

Sam's used Keller's Creamery for a long time to make their butter and I really liked the solid butter in the tin foil. It allowed you to freeze it without the taste becoming easily adulterated. Sam's has now switched to California Dairies to make their butter. How can you tell the difference? Keller's packed in tin foil and California Dairies packed the butter in boxes that hold four pounds. If you get the solid butter as we do, this means that inside the box, you'll find four solid pounds wrapped not in foil, but paper. I assume that the quarters are wrapped in the box the same way whereas they all had separate boxes before. The taste of the butter is fine. No complaints there. Time will tell if the butter will pick up an off flavor due to the paper vs. foil. As far as value, you can find butter cheaper on sale at local supermarkets, but Sam's certainly doesn't have the highest price.

Maybe it was just this batch but this tasted like it had twice the salt the butter I purchased previously had. I think I'll stick with the unsalted for my baking.

We use a lot of butter and this is great to have around. I always freeze 3 boxes and put one box in my fridge. This butter tastes really good and my family just loves always having plenty to use.

These are great for baking, holidays & icing recipes. So easy & convenient for large holiday baking projects like cookies & icing cakes.

It is decent quality butter and is priced to make it worth buying 4 pounds all at once.
