I'm not sure how I'll be able to know it works well other than waiting for a month or two to pass and understand if it works. I would think if it shows up dirty then it works!

These Filtrete™ Ultra Allergen Bacteria and Virus are worth every dollar you spend on them. These trap so much more dust than any other filter out there. Stick with the best quality when you care about your air quality.

The material and shaping of the filters make it look like they would do a great job and filtering out the allergens. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't really say this filter works any differently from the Filtrete filters with a lower allergen protection. But I can say I haven't noticed any more dust in the air than with my old filter. It would be pretty hard to tell if there was actually less bacteria in the air. The filter is of good quality though just not sure the extra money for the Allergen Bacteria reducer rely does any more than the ones without that.

I just changed this filter for the first time and I could not believe how dirty it was! I thought the ones I had been using were doing a good job, because they hardly ever had any dust on them. I will never use anything but this filter in my furnace again. It is a good feeling knowing that the air I'm breathing in my home is so much cleaner now.
