Really good

Excellent !

It has been a long time since I have bought a bag of frozen shrimp but thought I would try it. This shrimp is already peeled and deveined, which makes it SO easy to cook. I cooked it in Zatarain's crab and shrimp boil and made my own cocktail sauce with ketchup and horseradish. We had it as a complete meal for an easy summer evening.

These shrimp were horrible. I purchased two bags. I thought with the first bag that maybe I had got a bad batch because they were salty without seasoning. When I cooked the second bag (without seasoning), they were salty too. I won’t purchase them again.

I wanted to quickly thaw the shrimp to prepare to boil them, so I put them in a pan with water. This resulted in what appeared to be a lot of soap suds. I emptied the water probably three times following the formation of the suds. Because I was concerned about what could be causing the suds, I did a search and learned that a likely source would be the addition of STPP. That chemical is not listed on the packaging. The FDA says it is safe to eat if present in a low enough percentage. I wonder what the level is if indeed it is present in this shrimp.

Extremely salty, not jumbo (they are medium/large shrimp soaked in salt water to plump them up), NOT deveined (I spent a lot of time cleaning the veins out), and tastes absolutely horrible now. There is a disgusting taste to them now which was not there before. After all that time I spent cleaning them and cooking, I couldn't eat them and ended up throwing the food away. I wish I had returned them and got my money back as they are not cheap. Sams Club, please look into this to see what this supplier is doing differently. Possibly what the shrimp are being fed? I assure you, you will be getting a lot of complaints moving forward about this product.

This bag of shrimp has become a repeat purchase for us. It's so easy to pull an exact amount out for a quick lunch or dinner. I've used them in stir fry, salad, shrimp cocktail, blackened, scampi, tacos, etc. We live on the coast but these are still the more affordable option.
