Excellent Machine

Did it all, tried bagging, mulching and side discharge. All three worked like a champ. Bought primarily for a river bank with high slope. Large back wheels pulled me up the hill with no problem. The 6.5 HP engine was enough for tall grass and it is light weight. Loved the "one lever" for height adjustment. Forget the "never change oil" claim. As good as this mower is, I will want to change oil and make it last. Finally, people are concerned about the single speed. Its just right and where I would have adjusted it if I could have. All in all, this is a great machine at a price at least $100 lower than comparables.

Good quality mower at a nice price

This is a great mower for the money. I appreciate the larger deck since I have a big yard and I wanted a push mower over a riding one for more exercise. It's easy to move and it cuts well. Very easy to adjust the height and switch between mowing modes. I had the same issue with the self-propelling feature - the first time you use it, the mower jumps out of your hands and it is really fast. Once I got used to it, it was fine though. I'd definitely recommend it!

Nice mower, worth the money!

If you're reading this review, then obviously, you're interested in this mower. Why? Because for the money, you're getting what would cost you at least $350 anywhere else. This mower has it all: powerful B&S motor, high-wheel rear wheel drive, self-propelled and one-handle height adjustment. I bought this mower several weeks ago and have used it twice. It starts easily after one or two pulls. The engine is very powerful and it gave my grass a smooth cut. The one-handle height adjustment works slick! Overall, this is a nice mower. So why did I only give it a 4-star rating? The culprit: the self-propel system! This would be an excellent mower if some idiot hadn't been in charge of designing this system. The speed of this system is excessive to say the least. There's no good reason why it was designed to go this fast. The guy who designed it must live in a condo and has never cut grass. Anyhow, be aware that the speed of the self-propel system is excessive. And the icing on the cake is that when the self-propel system is engaged, the mower practically jumps out of your hands and takes off without you! It's anything but a smooth transition. My lawn is fairly flat - so I can live with the self-propel issue and I'm not going to return the mower. But if your lawn requires self-propulsion, this may not be the mower for you. Again, had it not been for this issue, I would have given this mower 5 stars. Because it's a really nice mower otherwise.

love it

Just bought mine today. I'm not mechanical at all but I had it together in less than 10 minutes. Add the oil, add gas and first pull and fired right up. Was a little damp but wanted to get the grass cut before the rain comes. I was very pleasantly surprised by the power that it had. I used the side discharge instead of the bag since it was damp. Keeps you at a nice steady pace and the grass looks great. Highly recommend this mower.

Best for the price

This is a great basic lawnmower. One handle height. One self-propel speed. It handled my thick grass and kept going where my prior mower would shutdown. I read prior reviews that said the speed was too fast. I'm guessing the factory fixed that issue because I literally had to slow my pace to let the mower do its thing. I'm a 5'3" female nearing 60 and my only complaint is the handle height is a little higher than I would like. I had no problem managing turns with the rear wheel drive. Just released the drive handle, turn and grab again to go. I liked that the mower is light enough to use without the propel in places where I needed more control. This is my 4th lawn mower in 30 years and I prefer to mulch, so the flimsy bagger and discharge chute don't matter to me at all. Absolutely love the ability to adjust the height of all 4 wheels with one handle. That and that this mower was more than $100 less than my other comparable choices.

Self Propelled Mower Too Fast

Overall the mower is a Briggs & Stratton engine & resembles the last 3 Toro's we had so we took a chance. Love the height adjustment but the self propelled RWD is for someone with a fast, long stride. There's no adjustment and it's FAST. Ran into the wall several times. The self-propelled handle is on the bottom outside you can bump it unintentionally during turns and then it shoots away from you with a surge almost pulling you over. Also the grass catcher bag doesn't seal well on top so face full of grass clippings. My least favorite mower ever.
