Half the onions were rotted. Very disappointed. I tend to avoid Sam’s onions, but I was desperate and decided to give them one more try, disappointed again.

Over the last few years the quality has really gone down. If it isn't every other bag, it is every 3rd bag has about 1/2 the onions bad or going bad. Sure they accept returns, but the hassle of making the special trip, or dealing with the online return process is making this item one that will now be sourced else where. Paying a little more to not have unwanted headache is worth it.

Usually good - sometimes an onion or two will start to go bad quickly. It depends on how 'new' the bin is when you purchase. For the most part for us (household of 2 who loves onions) we can get pretty much through a full bag. Flavor is for the most part consistent.

Each onion is very large. These are restaurant/industrial food preparation sized. Each is easily 2.5 medium onions. They are mid-intense, not too sweet, not too eye-watering. A great cooking onion. In a dark, dry, and cool place they can last a month or more!

Onions we’re starting to rot when I bought them. The outside looked fine, but when I cut into them, there were rings of rotting pieces. I had to cut those off which means money was lost on this purchase. It’s the second time in a month I have purchased something that was bad. The quality used to be better at SAM’S.

Sometimes you really need to look at these closely to make sure they are not soft and already showing signs of being old. I have purchased these in the past and had to throw some away due to growth or mold on them. If they are fresher, they are good onions. But I rarely ever get a bag that I don't have to throw some away.

We love the size of these onions. We are having to cut out moldy spots and sections due to the onions having been frozen prior to my purchase. This is a problem even in the heat of summer. I have purchased my onions from other places, and never have a problem. When I go back and try these again, we always have bad sections in the onions. Perhaps these are shipped in with their milk, that comes in frozen. I have seen it sitting on pallets, in the produce section, while it thaws out. I worked dairy for Kroger for years. Milk shelf life is greatly reduced when it has been frozen. Several gallons of milk went bad on me before I found out what they were doing. Onions should NEVER be refrigerated. The starch in them turns to sugar, and starts to rot them.

When I got them home, some of them were already rotting. I could not see that in the bag, since they were oddly in the middle. They are also SUPER strong and it lingers. I have never had burning eyes when cutting onions, but these made me sob! I will never buy them again.
