In regards to the scent you've noticed, the manufacturing of diapers is a very fast process, from making them, packaging them, to having them on-shelf ready to buy. Thus, the product ingredients being so fresh and tightly packaged together, the odors from all the ingredients and materials in the diapers do not always get time to settle, which means when you open the packet, you may experience an odor smell of a mixture the fresh ingredients. If you leave the bag open for a couple of minutes you should find the smell disappears. Alternatively, if the diapers have been transported or stored someplace where they could've been exposed to other products with a strong odor smell, this can also create a short-term scent, and again, you should find the smell disappears within a couple of minutes after leaving the bag open.
