It doesn't stay open on its own. We got this to have an extra bed when my nephew comes over, and it will spread out, but then tries to fold right back up. Plus, it's completely uncomfortable.

Tried to use this cot for my grandchild that was visiting. Every time she moved during the night it woke us up! The material makes a loud rustling noise that is extremely irritating to listen to. Totally waste of money.

I purchased a youth cot for my grandson, it is great, even though he is just 15 months old it has already come in handy. The only thing I Don't like is it does not lock in place very well. Otherwise it has been good for him to take naps on.

I have a home daycare and use these cots daily. Easy to use and fold and put back up. So easy the kids do it themselves. Only problem I have had is some of the screws come loose but easily fixed.
