We purchased the Generac system for our home about 6 months ago anticipating an active hurricane season in Hawaii. Luckily the hurricanes passed our remote island, but we did have several power outages due to high winds and downed power lines. One recently lasted 3 days! All of our refrigerated foods were not lost, we had lights in house and we were able to stay in touch with emergency news reports. We are very pleased with the efficient operation of our Generac. Best investment ever and have recommended it to all of our friends!

As a small custom home builder, I build a lot of homes that are on large acreage. Thus these sights are prone to power outages due to their geographical locations. The Generac 22KW with the auto xfer and gas back up is a MUST. Just the peace of mind in knowing that you do not need to break out all the candles, flash lights and blankets when they are calling for bad weather in a life saver. Easily one of the best investments you will ever make!

So far we are well pleased with the unit, the auto no load test works well. We look forward to this test every Monday at 10:00 AM, when this happens., it gives us the good filling that we just might not be left in the dark anymore. 02/05/17 Generac, 22 KW Home Standby Generator Unit, Exceeds Expectation… We purchased the Generac 22 KW model 6551, p/n 45335 from the Northern Tool Company, a Generac Dealer, in August 2016 with free shipping. I made the purchased decision based on my previous experience with a 7.5 KW Generac generator, coupled with the following features… full home stand by unit, aluminum housing, smart switch, cold weather starting kit, flexible fuel line, easy switching from NG to LP fuel, True Power technology, OHVI engine and Quiet-Test..i.e….self starting programmable test and extended warranty. Local dealers assisted me with the installation with no significant problems experienced during the installation along with an instance start up. Great job. On January 25, 2017, 4 months later, our electric went off and was off for 5 hours due to a downed power line caused by a fallen tree. The generator ‘kicked in” automatically, what a relief. We couldn’t be happier with our purchase and having the peace of mind, especially living in the country. From a satisfied customer in Batesville, Indiana.

Your unit seems to operate efficiently whenever there is a interruption of electricity. It has only happened a couple times that we were aware of but it allowed us to be running without any loss of lights, cooling or heating. When should we have the oil changed and unit checked out? I think you installer said 1 year. Thanks

Nice generator. The Generac concrete pad is a must in my opinion. Also the generator base trim piece. With both of these options, we are VERY pleased with our unit. A very clean look that Generac has come up with. Not the least bit sorry for purchasing Generac! Should have done it years ago.

Generator works as marketed. During Hurricane Matthew we lost power, our Generac generator started within seconds and we were with power the entire outage. I like the Mobile Link feature that sends email and txt messages keeping me informed of the generator self test and status.

We've had the unit a couple of months and it has performed as advertised, we had a couple of power outages of 1 to 2 hrs each and the unit came on and switched to backup power without a hitch. A nice feature is the generator has a self test mode running once a week for 5 min so you know your generators ready to go in case of power outage. Would recommend to all.

FORTUNATLY,THE WEATHER WAS KIND AND THE GENERATOR WAS NOT NEEDED.HOWEVER,I WILL LET YOU KNOW THIS SUMMER IF I THE PRODUCT PROVES ITSELF,ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. I WOULD ALSO ADVISE THAT THE ELEVATION BE CONSIDERED BEFORE INSTALATION.IN MY CASE,A HEAVY RAIN MAY FLOOD THE LOWER PART

At this point, my review can only address the installer and the installation of the generator. We've not had a power outage since its installation, and frankly I hope we never have to use it. It's an insurance policy against what has happened all too often causing distress over not having water (well pump) and the potential loss of food in 4 freezers & 5 refrigerators and the further annoyance of not being able to turn on the TV & see the news. Expensive insurance - Yes, but it's comforting to know that when (not if) the power goes, our Generac will come alive!
