Living in the Texas Gulf Coast hurricanes are a natural occurrence. I am a Sr. Regional Product Support Manager for a heavy duty diesel engine manufacture with 45 years experience servicing diesel engines in Oil & Gas, Construction & Industrial, Marine, and Power Generation applications. In Sept. 2008 we went through hurricane Ike and endured six days without power afterwards. After Ike, we installed a 20kW Guardian unit and had wonderful success and a great piece of mind with the unit at our former home. After living in the Houston area for ten years, we moved away for four years, and we just moved back to the Houston area in May 2019. In preparation of our new home for hurricane season, we purchased a 22kW Guardian unit. Our first unit as well as our new unit are whole house with 200 amp ATS. Our first unit was great but this new unit is AWESOME! The controller has been improved, the unit can now be monitored wireless from anywhere using a cell phone, tablet, or laptop. It is also monitored 24/7/365 by our authorized Generac dealer. The noise level of the unit when running has been reduced substantially. Maintenance items, oil drain, oil filter, air filter, oil fill, dipstick, and battery are all easily accessible. The controller is improved, simple to operate, understand, and is accessible with ease as well. This is a well designed, well built, serviceable unit that is supported by an outstanding dealer with factory trained and certified parts and service personnel offering 24/7/365 service to their customers. And, our Generac is backed by one of the best warranties in the business. It doesn't get any better than this folks.

We recently moved from New Jersey where we had our 1st Generac 22KW generator and were completely pleased with its performance and overall value. Upon moving to Maine we just had another Generac 22KW generator installed and am looking forward to continued outstanding performance. Highly recommended.

just had the system professionally installed. Premier Power out of Jacksonville was great to work with and very knowledgeable. when we did the training I was surprised as to how loud the system is. it happens to be near the master bedroom (no other option), but i figured when we need the power it might be music to our ears. we can always go sleep in the living room. we are very satisfied with both equipment and quality of dealer.

This product is as advertised and works as it should. I am very pleased with this generator and its operation. I am confident that I can rely on it to protect my electrical power requirements. The only problem I had was actually getting the unit and having it installed. The actual choice to buy was easy and the cost was acceptable for the security it offered and paying for the unit was easy but delivery was three months later and installation was another three weeks almost 4 months after I decided to install a generator. And the advertised 7 year warranty free was the final factor and I still don’t know if I have that warranty. I haven’t seen any notifications explaining my warranty or even if I have a warranty yet. I called my installer but they said that was provided by Generac and they would be sending me a notification and explanation of my warranty, but haven’t received anything yet so it’s another thing that I’m waiting for. So I like the generator but I’m not thrilled with the company so far.

My wife and I consider this a luxury , we waited 47 years to get this ,as there were always other priorities. Here in our little town of Saline , we loose power all too often. Amazing less than 24 hours after completing the hook up the power went out. Oh, but not here , wow I almost slept through it . Than we were so excited it was hard to get back to sleep..... Highly recommend Generac. Excellent quality and value. While there are compeitors in the home standy generator business. No one focuses soley in the generator market and puts the technolgy and engineering into its products like Generac. Extremely pleased. Generac has the largest market share in the Generator market for a reason. You can’t go wrong choosing Generac over other brands.

Overall this unit met all my expectations. It worked the first time it was turned on transferring to the load correctly and shutting off. The unit looks good next to the house and has very understandable features. The unit has just been installed so will have to see over time about reliability. I would recommend this product to anyone having reliability problems with their local electric utility.

we have had our 22kw for about three month, and we had our first real "test" . this past Monday night. During a thunder storm, the power went out in large area of town and according to the news report , several thousand homes lost power for about 40 minutes. When in first went out, our power was off for about 15-20 seconds then the generator kicked on and we had power again. Our next door neighbors were on their way home on the interstate when all of the lights went out there. They said they drove home through the darkness seeing no lights except for those of cars until they turned on our street and our house was "lit up like a Christmas tree". The real test will come when we have our next hurricane.

After about 14 years or so, our 17KW crapped out. In simple terms, the stator self-destructed. Major, major costly repair. The local dealership that originally installed this 17KW quoted me a price to replace the generator. 17KW was no longer available, so they quoted me on the next size up. I believe it was on a 18 or 20KW. The price they quoted me was around $8,500.00. That was more than the original cost of the 17KW which included the transfer box(which would not need to be replaced) and connection to the propane tank. I searched around for another dealership and found one that had a 22KW in stock for $5,250.00. Installation included. So that’s what I went with. That was installed 6/20/18. Here it is September of 2021 and the generator failed. My mistake was to call in the same people who sold/installed the 17KW. They diagnosed it the next day, determined that the control board need to be replaced, however, since they did not install/replace the 22KW, they would not work on it. Here’s the summary. When I purchased the 22KW it came with a 5 year warranty, but after the first 3 years, the only things left on the warranty are the engine and alternator. I don’t care one way or the other. I just wanted it fixed. Come to find out Generac dealers/service companies are 3rd party. They can set their own guidelines/policies. No commitment or jurisdiction under Generac. So here’s where I stand. The dealership that sold me the 22KW will be here tomorrow. My advice to any potential buyers is beware. Not all Generac service companies appear to be equal. If they have internal policies that prevent them from servicing your generator, you may find yourself in a compromising situation. Don’t get me wrong. As long as it works, Generac stand-by generators are wonderful, but in MHO, if a company such as Generac certifies installation/ service companies, they should also be able to control service policies over these 3rd party companies.
