This is a very solid step stool that also functions as a ladder. With the large steps, I feel safe as I use it.

This stepstool replaces a lighter weight stool from another company that I had been using for years—one that I recently caught a foot in a rung and fell and broke a foot and damaged an ankle. When the cast came off, and I was able to walk again, I wanted a ladder that I would feel safe using, and this one seemed to be constructed better — especially where there is enough room on the stair tread and no real areas to get a foot caught. I am 5'1", and I need to reach things up high, I need to paint, etc., and I don't want to be afraid to do anything that I was doing before the accident. I have been using the Little Giant Step (Model Step 3) for a few weeks now, and I really like it. I've used it to put boxes on high shelves (up near the ceiling), reach a bathroom ceiling to clean it, and reach the tops of some outdoor trees to string mini lights. I feel much safer on this new ladder (even on the foot and ankle that's still in the later stages of mending). It's sturdy, the steps are nice and wide (and feel like stairs) and have excellent traction, and my feet are not likely to get caught on anything. It's weighty (but not so much that you can't pick it up). I'm not super strong, and I can pick it up and move it around from room to room. And I like that it's easy to move from one spot to the other using the back wheels. This will be helpful when I start painting the fence. And it opens and folds easily for storing in a closet or back hallway. I like that it has a handle with areas to hold supplies too. And I love that you can use the rail/handle or fold the whole thing out of the way. And the stairs are wide enough, so if you want to sit on them to work on something nearer to ground level, you can do that too, and it's comfortable. I'm pleased with this purchase.

It is a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. I considered getting the 2 step, but ended up with the 3 step and am glad I did. I've already taken advantage of the extra step many times. There are many positives, including: It is extremely sturdy. It is easy to fold and unfold and doesn't take much storage space. It is fairly light. One big reason I purchased this design is that it is very comfortable to sit on the steps so you can use it to work on projects close to the floor while seated.
