I have used the Bonus S and the other products in the yearly subscription service and it worked great. This year I got my first bag of the Bonus S 10,000 bag. I opened it as I normally do by cutting across the corner and couldnt pour it out as normal. I cut a large opening and found large solid pieces the size of a baseball. I put it in my spreader and bashed it then scrubbed two pieces together to get it small enough to use in the spreader. I shouldn't have even tried it . I guess it was damp when bagged because the bag was fine and it was put out soon after receiving it. I might as well have put out sand because it didn't do anything! Didn't kill the weeds and grass didn't start greening up. I will request a replacement to be sent.

My front and rear lawn are about the same size. I always used Scott's Bonus S and the lawns looked great. Over the winter I had an attack of weeds on both lawns especially the front lawn. I saw a commercial for another brand and thought I would try it on the front and Scott's on the back. As the grass grew, the back lawn looked great, was full and no weeds. The front lawn was terrible, more weeds, grass didn't look good and was thin. I went and purchased a small bag of Scott's Bonus S and just put it down on the front lawn. Inspecting it today, it really looks different. More and more both yards are looking great. Needless to say, I wont buy Bayer's again.

Price keeps going up and effectiveness going down. Have used 3-4 times a year for the past 2 years on my Florida Floritam lawn and never have I had so many weeds. Doesn’t kill any of them. Lived in Florida 35 years and always have taken pride in my lawn. Time to look for a different product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a long time Scotts user and former Lawn Pro dealer, I've had a lot of experience with Scotts products. The choice to go from a vermiculite-based product to a more grainy product similar to lower-end products is very disappointing. This product will no longer effectively pass through my PF1 drop spreader, and even "gums up" in my rotary Scotts spreader. Using a rotary spreader for this product increases the chance of material falling into an unwanted zone (like a flower or shrub bed), causing damage. But with careful spreading techniques to get the product only on the lawn and not the beds, it does have the expected result of providing weed killer/preventer, and seems to have a moderate extra benefit of not requiring as much watering

I had a beautiful lawn with a few weed issues here and there. Nothing of concern, I applied this product and I am covered in weeds. What the heck? My front yard has huge weeds everywhere. Granted I know the formulas are designed to increase weeds quickly to kill the, but I have weeds coming out of areas that have been seedless for years! 15 years I have never had this problem with other brands.

As others have said throughout this thread, this product is not what it used to be. Put down 2 months ago and it appears it actually fed the weeds and killed the grass. More weeds are in the lawn than ever before. In fact, they are thriving. What is going on here?

I have used the Scott's product for the last couple of years and there has been a significant decrease in the weeds that appear the next spring.

I thought I had taken care of it over the winter, but when spring rolled around I was surprised by the amount of weeds that had taken hold. I applied the fertilizer as directed and within a couple of weeks, the weeds had disappeared. I was amazed how well the fertilizer worked. I will definitely buy it again.

Especially this season that has been touted as the winter that wasn't by our local weather forecasters. Appling Scotts Bonus S in mid to late March has become an annual tradition for our lawn. In a couple of weeks we should see a vibrant green lawn with very few if any weeds in our St. Augustine grass. Thank you Scotts!

If you apply before a heavy rain there is a chance it wIll not soak into your lawn but run off across your yard to the lowest points. That is a chance you have to take with letting Mother Nature watering it in for you. If you have underground irrigation which many homeowners do not these days you may have to water in with just an above ground sprinkler around your yard. The picture below is after a week after applying the weed and feed bonus S formula (purple bag). I watered in with the underground irrigation at about 25 mins each station. Just a word of advise for everyone. 70 or 75% of water that you use to water your lawn via irrigation in sunny hot part of the day will evaporate!!! So it's best to water early morning. Ours is set for 4am with 15-20mins each station. But it is up to you how much you waste water and $$$ when all it does is evaporates during the heat of the day. If you just have to water after your mow your lawn after you cut it. Water it that night! You will appreciate that tid bit of advice. Water is cheaper than electricity so it's your call whether you want a greener lawn or ........?
