I had the older version to corral my lab mix dog. He eventually wore the lock out through brute strength and broke the hinge, so I bought a new one to replace it. It's more complicated to open for the humans (he hasn't figured it out yet) and only opens one direction, not two like the older version did.

I bought this same one (different color) about two years ago. It's great. Easy to install, no screws or nails in the wall cuz it's pressure mounted. Main thing you should know is that it is not 36 inches tall. It's actually 41 inches tall. So it is extra tall. I don't know why they say it's 36. That's the max width. If you read further down on the description you'll see it says 36 by 41.

this gate has made it possible to put my five year old daughter in her room at night. she would come out all hours of the night waking her sister and myself up. this gate has made it possible to keep her in her room without putting her safety at risk. this gate is an answer to many sleepless nights.

Absolutely brilliant! My little cavapoo puppy could never fit between the bars nor could he jump over this high gate - even though he could easily jump over a standard sized baby gate. Easy to set up, and exactly what I was looking for. The opening is just fine, I can get through it with space to spare on either side. The entrance is a big as possible given the fact that it must fit between a door opening. This product solved a major problem for such a small price. Totally worth it.

We’ve tried wooden gates and he just climbs right over them. This gate is sturdy and tall. It’s height reached well over my hips and I’m 5’ 6”. It took me around 20 minutes to set up but may have taken less if my toddler wasn’t “helping” me. Once everything is ready to be placed up, you will find the gate swings open because the latch is distanced from the right side. Once the wall legs are adjusted, this spacing narrows to a fit and it all makes sense! It’s sturdy once placed and we needed up using the extension to place it in our hallway. It’s very easy to open with a pull and lift. The bottom can secure in place with two pieces that easily go down. Overall, this is a very well designed baby gate that is the most successful at keeping my son out of places he shouldn’t go and the gate looks really good! It’s easy for us to make our way through the house, as well, so I do recommend this gate.

This gate is GREAT!! Trying to keep the dogs from going upstairs to the bedrooms has always been difficult.. we used baby gates of all kinds and have ruined the sheetrock at the stairway with the pressure type gates. This gate actually has mounting hardware that makes it so that doesn't happen. It took about a half hour to install properly.. needed longer mounting screws (the ones supplied were too small) but thankfully my husband is a general contractor and had exactly what we needed. The gate is extra tall so that our mini-pin can't jump over it which was a must as well... she loves a challenge!! I would recommend this gate to everyone with similar issues.

I have 3 big dogs that can easily jump over the standard height baby gates. This one is tall enough that they stay put. You can use the pressure only, but it will slide out if it is pushed on. The holders that screw in the wall must be used if baby or dogs are going to lean against it. It is metal, so no worries about it breaking like the smaller wood ones, also nice since dogs can't chew it up.

Must be square to operate properly. Note, you will have screw holes left in door frame when you remove it, so if you have a rental or that will bother you when you are finished with it..

We bought this gate over a year ago. Use in our home consists of Grandkids, pugs & a 155lb Bloodhound Mastiff mix. This gate has stood up to them all. Yes the walk thru is a bit narrow, but so are the rest of the walk gates we have seen. This gate still looks & operates great after a year of hard use. It is so good we have decided to purchase 2 more for other areas of our home. There are some comments about it not latching properly & being hard to open, just readjust the pressure evenly until it operates smoothly & easily. BUY THIS GATE FIRST, YOU'LL SAVE LOTS OF MONEY BY SKIPPING THE INFERIOR PRODUCTS. I wish we had!
