Warranty Issues

Bought our 16kw natural gas unit six years back. The only times it ran was during short power outages lasting a few days and weekly runs. Hurricane Ida hit and we thought things were under control. Six hours into the storm and it shut down permanently. The next day I found the cover missing which allowed rain to get into the generator itself shorting everything out. Calling Generac we were told it was an act of God and our extended warranty would NOT cover it. Upon further evaluation we determined it was what I consider a manufacturers defective method of bonding the top to the subframe. The top or rather frame while locked on both sides, remained in place while the lid, held in place with sticky foam tape flew off. The tape didn't even leave residue on the lid. We just got the insurance company to agree on replacing it since Generac stands by their decision. We had to go with Generac again, but I will drill holes and bolt the lid in place this time. So a word of caution to everyone, BOLT THOSE LIDS TO THE SUBFRAME. I hope the business that installed the new unit can file a claim for the techs time to install it since insurance merely paid for the new generator but not installation. The techs did awesome work and even corrected a few issues from the first install.

Well Worth The Investment

We have lost power so many times in the past 10 years. Ice storms, tornado, hurricane and one particular nasty snow/ice storm in October a few years back. We were without power for 10 days!!!! Lost all of our frozen and refrigerated food several times over the years. We finally decided to get a generator. We wanted one that powered the entire house which is just shy of 4,000 sf. My husband did a lot of research and we decided on the Generac 7042. We signed the contract back in early August of 2018. It took quite a few weeks for the generator to come in. Once it did, our contractor contacted us to set up the installation. Day 1, the pad went down along with the generator, a few days later the plumber came over to do his hook up. Once the plumber was done, the electrician came back over to set the system up and to do a test run. He took his time and explained how the system works and even set up the wi-fi and assisted with the phone app. The app is amazing. If there is an issue with the generator both the electrician and I know it even if we aren't home. It's a huge comfort knowing we have the generator if we ever lose power again.

This product has a great appearance.

We are very pleased with this generator. We have not had a need for it yet, but are very confident that it will operate as we were instructed. We are also very pleased with the electrician in his installation. He is very knowledgeable and precise with his work.

Peace of mind!!!!

As an elderly lady who lived in the country alone, I wanted a generator that I could count on and would provide me with peace of mind when the electric went out, since we are all electric out where I live. I got that with my Generac. When the electricity goes out, my Generac comes on. In seconds, I have power. I've got my peace of mind. Thank you, Generac!!!

Generator was a life saver

Just had a 4 day power interruption in Texas but with my Generac 22kw literally saved my 86 year old moms life who requires electricity to run her oxygen pump for her medical copd condition that lives with me. Generac built a incredible machine that worked to provide heat and light in our house in subfreezing conditions operating on natural gas. I unreservedly recommend to every family to protect their loved ones in this climate change.

Very excited and relieved to have it!

My father owned a full home generator (Generac). I experienced the peace of mind it gives you when Hurricane Matthew came through. It never waivered. It ran for 3 days while the neighborhood was without power. We even let the A/C run. No issues! We were very content. I now have my own home and just had the Generac installed this week. I am so very thrilled to have it and look forward to the weekly schedule where it will start and run for 5 mins every Sunday! It did yesterday and I was like HELLLLLO Jimmy-Rac. I named it after my father.

Peace of Mind to Shelter in Place

My wife and I cannot evacuate to a shelter, none of which have backup generation anyway in our county of Brevard, FL. Sat through Hurricane Irma, 4 days in the sweltering heat (105 degrees with the heat index). I actually worried for our survival on the third day. Said never again. Product is a good as expected, although with two exceptions: It is much louder than I anticipated. Also, Generac should consider a version made for beachside applications that has stainless steel hardware (screws, hinges, etc.). To slow the inevitable corrosion I am going to have it waxed on the exterior, and have the hardware sprayed with silicone or grease.

We love love love our Generac

We live near the Gulf of Mexico & now have peace of mind that we will not have to leave our home during a power outage. Hurricane season is no longer a deep concern. Wish more people knew about this wonderful produce with all its features. Thank You Generac!!!

Good looking unit with all the right features

Packaged well, installation was straight forward, I think that it was very cheap of Generac to not include that four little plugs for the lifting holes. Further charging $17.00 for those little plugs was just stupid on your part. I just chalk that up to a "gotcha" on my part.

More tie down then running

I purchased this generator 6 months ago and have spent more time down than running. First was the loss of rpm and won't start on a maintenance run and next the one and only time I needed it the transfer switch failed cause the factory did not fully seat the transfer coil cables. Now after I finally get the new transfer switch test it out and then today on maintenance run I get the great 1505 code and will have to wait again for a service call. Another 200 dollars to have someone come out. I hope the power doesn't go out again. Looking back I wish I never went with Generac, do your research.
