Easy to put down, and easier to clean

We bought this same flooring for our bedroom 10 years ago, and we were happy with it then! After reading the reviews on the golden amber oak 2 I wasn’t sure if we should get it? It took about 3 -4 weeks to get it delivered, but it was so worth it! The price was great and it looks beautiful. I know we will enjoy it as much as the bedroom flooring. My husband, son and daughter put it down in about 5 hours. It was a little tough getting it to snap in at first then they got the hang of it. Each brand has their little quirks so once they figured it out it was smooth going. Really happy that the price was a great deal! And you can’t beat free shipping!!!

Gorgeous

We purchased a similar laminate about 8 or 9 years ago from Sam's Club. Because of several soft spots in our sub-flooring, and no sub floor in our bathroom, we realized that we needed to order a few cartons/boxes in case we needed them. There were a few pieces of our existing floor that needed to be replaced. What we didn't realize was the lot numbers were not the same and consequently the grooves did not fit. Our contractor tried different ways to connect, but that did not happen. Luckily we had one box saved from our previous installation and that was used. However, two planks could not be repaced and so we had to use the old ones in the hallway. Since our vinyl floor could not be used in the bathroom, we used the laminate. It really looks beautiful. Though not vinyl, this floor should hold up well.

Traditional red oak flooring look in laminate

This is a classic-look laminate that blends with antique oak floors. "Traditional" is an apt description for it. In this day of "scraped wood", "barnboard", "wide-plank" faux flooring, this flooring will satisfy the traditionalists among us at a low price, yet high quality, easily installed laminate floor. To find that it is still available through on-line sources is gratifying; it is difficult to find it in flooring stores.

Love this product!

We had done our house with this same flooring, except the office which had an old laminate. As you can see from the pictures it came out great and matched up with the rest of the house.

Great product

Finished the install of this yesterday. Had installed in other room in other rooms a few years ago. The new product is a perfect match to the old but easier to install. Very satisfied with the quality/appearance of this product.

Good looks & tough

Looks good, lays down pretty well once you figure out what it needs (rubber mallet), seems to be tough. I accidently dropped a ceiling fan motor onto the floor. I have to get a flashlight and get on my knees to find the dent.

Better shipping packaging

Better shipping & packaging of cartons on second shipment, first shipment of four cartons was damaged due to poor handling and no interior packing to prevent the interior cartons from moving back and forth and damaging the ends of the laminate., this damaged was resolved by Sam’s Club. The second shipment arrived with no shipping damage, however the shipping cartons still did not have any interior packing to prevent interior cartons from moving and possible damage to laminate ends.

Durable and beautiful flooring

We purchased this for our living room and it looks great! My husband found it easy to install. We would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that each box had one board that had glue on an adjoining end that would prevented it from lining up correctly. We remedied it by using those boards in areas that would allow that side to be trimmed off.

New Click-Lock system is garbage

I had to replace laminate flooring in our basement because our water heater had failed. While I was able to salvage approximately half of the planks, I had to buy enough to completely replace all flooring in the damaged area because the click-lock system had changed. I was aware of the change and read the <mostly> negative reviews; however, since all of the laminate in our house (approximately 1500 sf) is the Golden Amber Oak (GAO) , I essentially had buy this particular color and style. I also had to buy approximately $120 worth of transition strips because the new laminate was not compatible with the old system. The laminate looks the same and has the same thickness and padding; and for that I am grateful. I give the look, the surface durability, and the integral padding 5 stars. But those traits do not complete the picture. I have installed/reinstalled approximately 4000 sf of the original GAO laminate across two houses; and have installed approximately 7-8000 sf of flooring in general. The original laminate price was exceptional and the click-lock system robust and simple to assemble. The only downside (and I presume this also applies to the the new flooring) is that water must be immediately wiped up. Good luck if you have an "accident"-prone pet. However, the new click-lock system on the GAO II is garbage: a. It does not stay locked. I had to repeatedly re-seat adjacent boards. As a result, the planks often became cock-eyed, complicating installation of successive rows. I believe the old system had either tacky tongues and grooves or had a "glue" type coating of some sort. b. It is not durable. The new system's tongues and grooves are wide and thin and easily damaged even before installation. Two of the seven boxes came with every plank damaged on one end or the other. Because I understood laminate flooring interconnections, I was able to use most all of the damaged pieces; however, an inexperienced DIYer might have problems. c. Every single piece had to be individually "tapped" into place, sometimes forcefully, often multiple times. With the old system, as long as all boards in a row are aligned lengthwise, the row will click into place. d. The leading edge of planks does not lay flat without being weighted down. As a direct result of the new system, it took me approximately 2-3 times as long to install the laminate as I had been expecting. For all these reasons, the next time I look at laminate, I am NOT going to be looking at the Traditional Living laminate flooring.

Waste of time and money

Would give it no stars, flooring is garbage, worst I have ever tried to install, do not buy!!! Tried to install, flooring doesn’t want to lock together and becomes unlocked when installing another row, will expect a full refund for wasting my time and money, select surfaces flooring is good and locks together easily, should have stuck with that brand. Shipper damaged several boxes too, was a bad experience from the beginning, highly do not recommend!!!
