My husband and I are 70 and 72. We decided to challenge ourselves and build the gazebo. This kit is absolutely beautiful! The wood is smooth and holes are pre drilled! All the hardware is included, packages are marked and of great quality. Love the black iron accents! The video is easy to follow and so much easier than reading the instructions. We constructed the entire gazebo but had to get help lifting the roof on. We are very proud of ourselves and it was possible with this excellent kit!?

This is absolutely a substantial and good looking structure. I'll be 80 in 5 months and I built this by myself (had 4 friends in their late 60's and 70's help put the roof panels up onto the trusses). I worked on it 5 hours a day for 5 days ; with the help of my Kubota. My wife and I are completely satisfied with the project; our boat has a place to stay.

Very durable product. Very nice looking. Paid extra to have put together because I didn't want the hassle of assembly! Item will be delivered in 5 separate (heavy) boxes, so be aware of where you are going to store those before they arrive. Company who assembled product did a good job. Only 2 minor dings on cedar posts that the installer ordered stain for.

Highly recommend if you pay fir assembly..not only professional installed but at an excellent price.

The gazebo was delivered via freight about 15 days later. The packaging was very good and the parts were very well labeled across the different boxes. We installed the unit by ourselves and found the instructions to be very easy to follow. While it was a day and a half project for two people, it was definitely a project that was attainable for the average DIY person. The gazebo is beautiful. Solid cedar and stained ina nice semi-transparent dark walnut color. I needed a few extra parts - probably because of my error, and they were very willing to ship the fasteners to me. Their customer service was fantastic dealing with them when I needed them. I priced out different DIY gazebos as well as custom built patio covers, and Backyard Discovery has the best pricing and product, hands down. Here are a few pictures of our gazebo.

I researched different companies. None of then compared in quality. Sure you could spend less, but it would not be half the quality. The packaging is great. The lumber was in good condition. It is a big project. There are so many parts. Please keep everything organized. It probably should require 4 strong people, but helpers don't usually appear. My wife, son, and myself did the whole project in 2 days. I'm 54, my wife is 36, and my son is 13. The project goes together pretty straight forward. Have the correct tools and read twice. They do provide extra hardware in case you lose one. Overall we have been extremely thrilled. I would highly recommend.

Bought this kit to replace an old metal frame rusted out pergola, was love at first sight when I saw timber frame inspired pictures. Build it slowly with help from my two sons, so proud to say I build the roof grid all by myself, a 66 year old lady. I also stained it with Cabot's Heartwood sealer which is the most beautiful color. We were so worried about getting the roof up there in the limited space but it just went up perfectly on the first attempts. Then I took it the rest of the way to perfect- added rain gutters, sun curtains, ceiling fan, Alexa and over 500 fairy lights and Edison bulbs. Could not be happier with the finished product, it was been a really great summer project. Thank you, Backyard Discovery!

Bought mine several months ago. Very pleased with the craftsmanship and detailed instructions. Had contractors put it up. Could have done it myself(but not a one man job) Looks great and with the sturdy construction, it will be around for years to come.

Instructions were fairly easy to follow, installation was easy with the help of a few people and looks great put together. The impressive part is that since it was installed we've had two storms with at least 50 mph winds and one storm with 70 mph winds and the structure is intact and didn't move a bit. I had reinforced the roof a bit when installing and used some bigger anchors when connecting to the concrete but am impressed that this structure held up to the storms we've had.

The gazebo turned out pretty good. Not to bad to build. My only complaint would be the wood. I thought I was getting cedar. Turns out it is Chinese cedar. It's not really cedar, but part of the cypress family. It has the same general qualities of cedar, rot resistance, keeps insects away. The wood on my gazebo is stained from the factory. The wood splits really easy and exposes the white wood underneath. Some of the bolts and fasteners broke or stripped pretty easy, but they do have a few extras in the bags. Overall it's solid and will keep the rain and sun off of us when needed.
