total bummer and waste of money

SO disappointed. Bought this on a good sale and thought it would last me long enough until I could get a name brand one. I?m a regular pretty decent home cook and even followed all instructions in the package as to seasoning it before us. After that I used it no more than 5 times and this happened, I was shocked and so bummed. The bottom starting chipping away worse than cheap nail polish. I never used metal utensils, only wooden spoons. Save your money and get a REAL one.

Bought 3 beige ones.

I bought 2 of these for Xmas gifts and one for moi. All beige will go with any kitchen. A lovely oyster/bone color. I opened all three. Two had the tiniest of flaws that won't affect function. Roomy 6.5 qt. Metal handle. Beautiful and sleek looking on my stove. For $39.99 these are a steal. Heavy. Will hold the heat. Tight lid. Follow the directions and they should last a very long time. So happy.

False Advertising

Just bought this last night in club, the Latte with Gold Knob. The only two choices was Latte or Black. I haven't used it yet but the information on the box was confusing. It plainly shows the 7qt is an Oval, the 5.5qt is round and comes as a 4 pc set. What's in the box is a 5.5qt round although the box certainly states this is a 7qt. IT IS NOT. After considering the information on the box I decided to check for myself. 6qts of water filled the Dutch Oven slap up and one would never cook soup or a stew, etc. filled to the absolute brim, so I think it's safe to say this is a 5.5qt. I will be returning it because if I'm willing to settle for the 5.5qt, I can order it and get the 4pc set that's included for the same price as this phony 7qt.

Chipped enamel

I have this pot about 4 years and loved it until today. I sautéed bacon, mushrooms and onion in the pot. When I stirred the mixture I realized that the enamel had chipped off the inside bottom of the pot and ruined my soup. I tried to contact the Manufacturer with no luck.

Too heavy to handwash

Beautiful and big. Wonderful for making stovetop soups or using it in the oven. However, I wish it was dishwasher safe, because it is soooo heavy. I have a hard time picking it up and moving it around to clean it. Sometimes I feel like it is not worth the bother, so I don't use it.

Love it!

I have seen dutch ovens before and have always been expensive. Last year when shopping at local Sam's Club, it was on sale. A value I felt I could not pass up! I am so happy I purchased it. I love to cook soups, stews, and casseroles. Its big enough to fit a whole chicken. The drawback is that the item is heavy. After cooking, and pot has cooled, I soak it and it comes clean easily.

Poor quality

Disappointed After my first meal cooking with everything was charred I said to myself it's my fault, I didn't put enough oil or the fire too strong. Second dish and despite all my attention the meal has charred. Everything sticks to the bottom I think the enamel is of poor quality and not regular. I no longer use it but now it rusts and is no longer usable. I just spread 50 bucks in the trash.

Great Cookware

Although it is heavy. I would not recommend for the very elderly. However is a good buy for the young Moms who still have those fine motor skills in their hands. Cooks Great. Easy to clean in the sink. Very worth the price. I bought two. Down side the store did not have variety of colors but am sure if you want other colors you can get them online.

enamel on handle chipping

The handle chipped on my dutch oven. I have owned it roughly around a year and have only used it 6 or 7 times since purchase. It sits on top of my stove as decoration when not in use. It has never been used it in the oven. I contacted customer service through Tramontina and they told me it was not a warranty issue. Disappointed. It is a beautiful pot but not if the finish does not stay on.

Great Dutch Ovens For The Price

I bought a 6.5 qt Tramontina around 10 years ago, and then during a December sale bought another two-piece set (7 qt that is shorter and larger diameter than the 6.5 qt and a 4 qt) three years ago. I have used these in various ways - on an electric ceramic cook top (making soups and stews), going into the oven (braising various things), on an open flame grill side-burner (brown chicken in a little olive oil and then make a nice curry outside where it won't stink up the house...) and they are all still like new condition. A little simple care and maintenance keeps them looking great and they just perform great on their own. Two things I do: 1) Always put a little oil on the exposed iron areas around the rim and lid after washing. 2) I found some info online about putting some bleach water inside overnight to make the interior enamel look like new again (it darkens with use that basic washing won't take out).
