I bought my pergola directly from BYD and shipping was seamless (as described). I had my handyman assemble it for me, and he didn't have any complaints. The color is beautiful, it is solid and sturdy. I think it's a great value!

Pergola shipped and arrived within a week of ordering. Discovered a joist missing during assembly. Called customer service and they had a replacement on it's way in two days. Assembly was fairly straightforward but I recommend taking inventory of your parts, having a drill to fine tune pilot holes, and run all the nuts down the bolts prior to assembly. The coating tends to muck the threads up, making them useless. There were extras, but not many. I also ordered some stain as there are alot of touch-ups needed from shipping and assembly. Instructions were ok but take some time to understand so you avoid having to undo steps. It went together more or less as advertised. Added lights and it looks fantastic! .l

Just bought 2 of the 16x12 pergolas to sit side by side. The first thing I noticed is the color is completely off from the photos online. One of the reasons I chose this pergola was because the color matched the rest of the wood in my yard. I understand that screens can distort color a bit but this is extreme and MUCH lighter than anticipated. It does state in the description that saturation can vary but I don’t even think it’s a saturation issue as it is maybe only 1 coat of stain added as opposed to more to get the proper color maybe to just get the product out faster? Not sure but make sure you don’t rely on the color if it’s important to you. The other thing is that several of the joists were pretty bowed. It didn’t prevent us from installing but just not super high quality for the price paid. A lot of the pieces are pretty lightweight and posts are hollow. Still not sure how this withstands the high winds that they say but we did attach it to the house and a concrete patio so we’ll see how it lasts to Florida storms. Overall it was relatively easy to put together but I likely would not purchase again. If you are making a decision based on what you see in photos make sure to do more research first.

We had looked at many different pergolas before deciding on Backyard Discovery. We could not be happier with the quality, beauty and quality of the product. We are so thrilled to have added beauty and value to our property and look forward to years of enjoyment.

I bought this a little over a month ago and built it myself, putting in a few hours each day over the course of a week. It was so easy to do myself and I only needed help from my husband and freind with the final raising and connection of the 4 sides. I truly appreciated how easy the instructions were to follow and the instruction app made it even easier. I have built a lot of things using assembly instructions and these were by far the best instructions I've experienced. The quality of the materials was impressive as well. The boards were straight and finished, and the cuts were clean. The grooves and the drill holes all lined up. The final pergola is beautiful. I get tons of compliments from friends now. I highly recommend this pergola for both it's beauty and how easy it was to build.

Started out slow but once I recognized all the parts the installation went quickly and smoothly. I had to drill out the top holes of the angled extensions so the bolts would line up. The extensions are not structural only decorative. Other than that installation was not difficult.

I love my new pergola. It's like having my oun outdoor restaurant table. When friends come over everyone wants to sit outside. It went together easily and we waterproofed it. It is the centerpiece of my backyard and ads value to my home. I recomend getting one. Fabulous!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We planned our backyard patio around the pergola. We laid out the patio stone and ordered what we picked out; unfortunately they told us the stone we selected, or any color stone for that matter, was on back order for 22 weeks. Thank goodness we didn’t order the pergola at the same time. We didn’t want the pergola laying in the driveway in cardboard and getting wet. We had hoped to have everything done for Christmas but thought that was going to be a dream. We checked periodically on the delivery but no one was going to answer. I had counted the weeks out on the calendar and decided to order the pergola. My husband said this is a mistake – the stone will never come in on time. When I ordered the pergola it was scheduled for delivery in 10 days. A few days later the stones came and the crew said they would be on it immediately. Right on time the pergola delivered it silently and in our driveway. Never saw the delivery man or truck. Checked boards and hardware and all appeared fine. The stone completed and we immediately started to build our pergola. My husband and I started and our daughter arrived in time to help. Three days and all is done – one day before Christmas. We celebrated with a dozen family and friends at the table under our pergola. Couldn't be more pleased with our pergola.

I really like the way it looks. The new mods of a seat and eating bar on the opposite side have made this product even better. It doesn't provide much shade, so I put 2 x 4's in between the roof 2 x 2's and it gives us shade from the hit Texas sun. X

This pergola, along with the shipping time & process of ordering has not disappointed. It is an awesome addition to our backyard patio. Quality materials and detailed instructions. We are actually looking to purchase a second one to go over a hot tub.
