The top of the grinder where you "grip and twist" has such a large diameter that it is so uncomfortable to use. It's impractical for cooking, but maybe better suited as table decor.
Bad Ergonomics

Pros: - Solid wood with nice weight. - Taller than expected, large size and capacity. - Gorgeous classic design that will look great as table decor. Cons: - As some reviewers have mentioned the caps may have a tendency to come off, but it required a pretty reasonable amount of force--they won't just pop off when you lift them up, but you ought to be careful. I can't speak to how well these grind salt and pepper because I won't be using them until we move into our home at the end of December, but I don't think it will be an issue at all. I've used plastic and glass disposable salt...
Buy them. Like, now.
