Over-Blanched, Over-Cooked before Cooking!

This was a good product. Recently every bag has been over-blanched and every floret coated with a heavy amount of frozen water. Disappointing. Taste is like over-steamed school-lunch broccoli. I am purchasing smaller bags from a different store for better quality.

New cooking instructions on bags incorrect

I have bought these in the past and the packages used to say to cook for 8 minutes in lower wattage microwave ovens (less than 1100 watts) and for 5 minutes in higher wattage ovens (greater than 1100 watts). I'm glad I took a picture of the old bags and kept it. When I followed the new instructions for cooking for 4 minutes the bags didn't expand and I had a soggy mess with still frozen broccoli. Steaming them for an additional 4 minutes finished them. I'm going back to cooking them for 8 minutes. They are excellent when cooked properly.

Re-frozen

I usually am very happy with this product which I purchase at the Bell Road Sam's Club in Phoenix. But the last 2 purchases, one before Thanksgiving 2020 and the other after the new year 2021 were much below expectations. Based on the frozen appearance, and the texture after cooking, I'm nearly certain both packages were thawed at some point after being frozen, then frozen again. I often buy these with the Normandy mix, which has not had the same issue, so it is not to do with my freezer or transportation. Even in the worst of the Phoenix summer, I'm able to get these home in good shape. After the first bag, I figured it was a fluke, but having the same experience 2 months apart makes me think there is a more serious problem. I hope it is corrected as these are otherwise very good.

Worms!!!!!

I've been buying this broccoli for years and it always cooks up and tastes fine. I was chopping it into pieces today and I saw tiny worms on multiple pieces!! I usually eat them how they come out of the packet and I was only able to see because I had cut them. Who knows how many have been on the packages I've been buying for years!!! Gross!!!!!

OVER 1 POUND SHORT, Walmart's is Better

The package claims to contain four 454g packs. That would be a total of 1,816g. In actual fact, the first pack weighed at 285g! You are getting slightly over half of what you pay for. This might be okay. To make matters worse, this broccoli quality is poor. I awoke in the middle of the night, sick to my stomach, after eating it. I would love to see Sam's Club source their broccoli from a new supplier! For the cost, Walmart's Great Value Broccoli Florets, 32 oz Bag (Frozen) is an identical value for a better quality product. The Walmart Broccoli doesn't match it's claimed weight either (it's 650g per pack, rather than 903), but the overall quality is better. The cost per g (when weighed out) is exactly the same for both products.

Looks really bad!

Every time I buy them I would hope they will be different and I have been buying them for years but they hardly ever change. They are closer to broccoli crumbs rather than broccoli florets. You CANNOT serve this to your guests. They just look like leftovers good for the trash. Everything is broken to pieces the florets are now crumbs at the bottom of the pot. You have just little trunks with no flowers. Sometimes I buy them from BJ's and the BJ's look so good. The people in charge should go buy a bag and you will see what I mean. You guys need quality control.

Poor quality, Freezing process full of water

I buy this product all the time, however about a 3-4 weeks ago, Sams was out of stock. next week it was in stock and i noticed a change in the size of the packaging. after opening at home to cook, usually with the old packaging , two bags would fill the pan I use, with the new packings, two bags only fill 2/3 of the pan. The new packs say 16 oz, however it is not 16 oz of florets, its florets plus water. Also, the florets end up being soft and saturated with water, the flavor is different too. So i am paying the same price for less florets and poor quality. Its obvious Sams changed the supplier and supplier method of freezing the florets. Sams should be ashamed and should immediately fix this issue. Adding the water is meant to add weight and reduce actual amount of product, while keeping the same pricing.

Verified Purchase

Bag apart at seam

Poor quality: one bag was half open at the seam. When I cooked that broccoli first, there was about a cup of broccoli “shavings” in the bag. I’ve never had such bad quality packaging. The broccoli was all different sizes- by much more than I’ve ever experienced. The shavings were also a first for me. I’ve never seen anything like that in any other brand.

Great Product: but not available for pickup

My family loves this item! We have used it for years for quick easy meals. We took a star...as Unfortunately, it is not available for pick-up, i.e. you must go inside the store to purchase. It is a household staple, but with such a busy schedule and little ones it is a huge inconvenience to go in the store for this one item.

New Package Bad Product

We have been buying this product consistently for over 5 years and have never had a problem, until they updated the packaging a couple months ago. Since then it has been awful. It's rubbery, chewy, and no matter how we cook it it never gets crispy. It's like it has too much water before they freeze it and it causes the broccoli to be soft even after you cook it. Hopefully they fix the issues with the supplier!
