- 4 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchase3/2/2026235/40R19/XL(Extra Load): I recently switched to the Michelin Defender 2 tires from the Primacy MXM4s (~5 years, 45k miles). While I've only driven a single, nearly 200-mile trip, the difference in performance is quite noticeable. The most positive aspect is the improved traction and control. The torque transfer feels much better, leading to a more responsive acceleration compared to the Primacy tires. The trade-off, however, is the noticeable increase in road noise, particularly at speeds around 80. It's a significant difference compared to the quieter Primacy experience. I am hopeful that the enhanced durability and potential tread life (80k miles company warranty) will ultimately make the Defender 2 a worthwhile change.
Traction or Road Noise
AkshayOriginally posted onwalmart.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/15/20267000 mile history with this set of Michelin Tires - Have been impressed with low road noise something I highly value and have not always experienced in other premium tier lines. Most have been satisfactory when new and I consider these Michelins still new given only 7000 miles on them.
Living Up to Well-earned Reputation
HairpinOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/5/2026Replaced original equipment tirres on our Subaru Outback. These tires were recommended by our service people and I think they gave us good information. They seem to ride smoother and quieter than original tires and if the expected treadwear is as we were informed we will be extremely happy with them. I feel that they are a great tire for the price.RugmanOriginally posted onmichelinman.com

Great tires
richardOriginally posted onwalmart.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/30/2026I have been driving Michelin tires exclusively for more than 40 years with nothing but praise for their quality and performance. So it made this choice of tire purchase pretty simple. We now have several thousand miles on this set of tires and they are performing exactly as expected.
Nothing but Michelins
RGBOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/19/2026Great tire for my Subaru Outback. Performance is as expected. Good traction and braking. Cornering is adequate, but I haven't really pushed it anywhere close to the limit. It is not as quiet as I expected, but I guss that is the price I pay for treadlife.
Excellent tire, but quite pricey
Eyedoc2020Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/18/2026I used the first generation of these tires and ran these 2nd generation as well driving personal and rideshare. They are quiet and like driving on pillows. In a 2wd Genesis sedan in the 1st generation version of these tires I got 2-3 mpg increase in the city and 3-5 mpg in the long distance. My any mpg was 34-35mpg with a V6 heavy sedan. In Colorado winters I could stop and plow through the snow powder or wet sloppy snow I had used sand bags in back for weight to grip. This Defender 2 I ran driving in Utah, Park city I didn’t have any sand bags and got better traction. These Defemder 2 tires were very impressive I did get my money worth out of the Defender 1 I did hit the 80,000 miles I believe I got 87,000 miles out of them. These Defender...
Amazing tires!
TBoogieOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 3 out of 5 stars review7/29/2026Got new tires. Haven’t driven enough to review. Difficult to complete registration process. Dealer did not put Dot numbers on any documents. No tear out wallet card provided with emergency number. Waited oh hold excessively long time to try & contact Michelin. 12+ minutes to answer. I can only imagine having a flat on dark country road & them taking even longer to answer! Wonder what the emergency roadside service time will be. So sounds like terrible warranty I hope I never have to use.
New tires but poor Michelin service response

Excellent Tires
Happyguy88Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/13/2026I have driven about 20 miles so far. My engine check line came on and my engine was misfiring. Presently I'm waiting for my mechanic to install a new engine coil. Right after the installation, I had to get an alignment, the steering wheel was vibrating. I can't say that I drove enough to share my subjective opinion. My mechanic recommend your brand. He said your tires last longer than Bridgestone. I think Bridgestone sound cooler and I think they are a lower purchase price. I do feel that the Bridgestone tires lasted a long time. If yours last longer, great, but I may not pay attentionGeoOriginally posted onmichelinman.com
- 4 out of 5 stars review7/5/2026These are the most expensive tires I have ever purchased. They are performing fine. They have normal traction and drive handling. The jury is out on how well they will last. My hope is that they are worth the expense for extended treadwear. They certainly have an excellent reputation. I expect safe driving and exceptional longevity.
The jury is still out. I have not put close to end of life wear on these tires.
eyedoc2020Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/9/2026I just purchased the tires on 6-30-26 and they were installed on 7-1-2026. Although I have only driven on the tires for the last 9 days, I have noticed that the tires give my car a more comfortable ride than the Ecopias that were on the car when I purchased it. And the tires have an 80k mile warranty which is a cherry on the top, I've always preferred and only purchased Michelin tires and will continue to do so.

VicIAMOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 1 out of 5 stars review5/27/2026I came here and read reviews and was impressed because I wanted a quiet and smooth ride in my 2024 Nissan Rogue. These are both IMPORTANT issues because my career requires daily travel. I am so DISAPPOINTED. The ride is rough and Road noise is horrible. I'm returning to dealer tomorrow to see what can be done. Ive had them two weeks.

Last time we had them checked @ 93,000 miles they still 4 tread depth! I’m just patiently waiting for the best sale to put new ones on. Don't skip these tires. No hydroplaning in water, great in snow- did good in ice, great on the highway! All have weared equally as well.
Amazing longevity! Way past warranty!
Fun_SpongeOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/19/2026Compared to the OEM tires we replaced, we're enjoying greater peace of mind w/our new, Michelin, premium-quality, std. touring, all-season tires on our mid-size SUV. These tires provide exceptional tread longevity w/an 80k-mi. warranty. They also offer excellent dry, wet, & winter traction along w/responsive steering, balanced handling, stable cornering, & a quiet ride. For maximum safety, even wear, & extended mileage, we had a 4-wheel alignment performed at a reputable nearby shop immediately after the tires were installed. Just be sure your alignment shop can clearly explain the digital printout of the measurements taken with a "before & after" comparison against your specific vehicle's factory specs, incl. details re: the camber, cas...
The Industry Standard for Premium Quality, Standard Touring, All-Season Passenger Vehicle Tires
CriticalEyeOriginally posted onmichelinman.com - 3 out of 5 stars review7/1/2026I'm sure the Defender 2 will last a long time. These tires seem to have a stiffer sidewall and harder rubber compound than the OEM tires my Toyota Highlander came with. The Defender 2 ride is much harsher and after about 15K miles they got noisy on smoother road surfaces. I also noticed the wet traction really got worse around 15K miles. I am dreading that I may have to drive on these tires for 3-4 more years, but tires are too expensive to replace them already. I will not buy them again.
Rough ride and noisy
steve62Originally posted onmichelinman.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/28/2026I have traveled between 40 and 60,000 miles per year on the road as a Salesrep, and have had experience with Goodyear, Firestone,, hoe, Continental, and Dunlap tires, and while they've all been adequate, only even Michelin tire, specifically the defender and the defender two, have given me the performance that I was looking for. Very good in the snow on my SUVs, as well as a fabulous ride, great cornering And secure in the knowledge that if I should get a blowout, which I never have, I would likely have plenty of time to pull over and deal with it as opposed to a worst case scenario. I would have no other for my vehicles. Michelin knows how to build a tire to give its customers the best value. A little more money, but well worth it in my hu...
