Tastes like the jerky we used to make at home. Most jerky you buy is moist instead of dry and doesn't last like it is supposed to. This is dry and can last a long time even after opening. I'm from NM and am glad my Sam's carries this in Phx.

Best jerky!! My dad used to make jerky after his hunting trips. He would slice into thin pieces, added added salt (and sometimes pepper) and hang up in a cold room until it was dried and ready. Im always on the lookout for jerky like he used to make. This has been the only one that tastes like the jerky my dad made. No additives or flavorings, not moist, but not too dry where you can't chew it, the thinness of the meat is perfect. Some fat left on it but not too much to make it rancid. I buy several of these at once. Open one bag at a time, tear in to smaller pieces and put in a paper lunch bag, add a little more salt, (kosher or sea salt, not table salt or it gets too salty) shake it around and snack on it through the week. (my dad would bag his jerky in paper bags, it absorbs the fat oils just right, keeps it nice and dry). If you like old fashioned basic jerky, then try this. Its also great to put the vacuum sealed bag in your emergency bug-out-bag, take on hikes/camping, add to your pantry etc.

Now this is the closest thing to Real Cowboy/country style beef jerky I have found. Simple 2 ingredients, that others can't claim with no preservatives. This reminds me of the old fashioned country general store beef jerky that we used to get right out of the big glass barrel. The kind that took you all day to eat, and huge sheets of it. It's not your typical BJ, and really shouldn't be compared to it, yes its real dried beef, and each piece/sheet is unique to it's own with variation. So you will get salty, fatty, and delicious differences from each piece. However if your tired of all the ingredients from others in their BJ you can't even pronounce, let alone want to put in your body, then give this a try. I just wish I could get this stuff in bulk. Have you ever overcooked bacon in the oven, to the point when you pick it up it crumbles? Yeah this is worse. When it says original recipe it means original batch. It's so dry. It's tasteless? I don't want to say it's horrible... but it's horrible.
