Price is out of control

This was our favorite go-to. Now there is no way I'd purchase it, small slices and a $5 increase over just a few months, Sam's can keep it.

Shrinking slices

I’ve been buying this cheese from Sam’s for years. It amazes me that something that gets smaller and smaller never loses any calories. These slices used to cover a piece of normal bread, now it takes 1 1/2 slices.

Not worth the savings

This is a great price for the quanity but this cheese has zero flavor other than being salty. I would only use this for homemade macoroni and cheese where you are ,using much better quality cheeses and adding this only for a creamier texture

Good, but not as good as the white American Swiss

Decent American cheese, but the American Swiss cheese that Sam's Club carries (or at least used to carry) was better. If you can get the American Swiss white cheese instead of this one then get it. This is an ok substitute.

Real Cheese

This is the only yellow cheese we buy. It is real cheese, not cheese product whoch is more oil than anything else. It melts well and has a really good taste. We also bake woth it. It makes ankiller mac and cheese.

Not so great

It is a good price, but the flavor isn’t the best and the texture is similar to plastic. Overall, it’s worse than the ‘government cheese’ we used to hand out to seniors & families at holidays when we volunteered as meal servers. We won’t be buying this again.

Poor quality now

The last package I purchase was the smaller size. The texture was off and i ended up throwing most of it away. I was aware that the slices are smaller than the 120 count larger slice package. Just didn't realize how small they really are. I am moving on and looking for american like I used to get from Sams. So disappointing that sams takes a good product then changes it to make a couple of extra cents.

This is lousy

I bought this today, and I can't understand all these reviews saying how good this cheese product is. It is worse than Kraft's. I took a bite of a slice, chewed it and had to spit it out. I don't want my $12 to go to waste, so I have it in the fridge waiting for the day I'm truly desperate. NEVER again.

Note the Slice Count

Great choice for American cheese. Flavor, thickness, melting characteristics ate spot on, for my preferences. Some reviews ding this product for the smallish slice size. You're not paying by the slice; you're paying by the pound. This is 160 slices per 5 pounds. If you want larger slices, get the 120 / 5 pound package. Same good cheese, same price for 5 pounds, last I checked. I find that these smaller slices work well for smaller 1/4 lb or less) burgers, chicken/fish sandwiches, and breakfast sandwiches on English muffins. For larger sandwiches I just add an extra 1/3 slice or more. Also, these aren't individually wrapped, which I prefer. I simply portion about 12 oz of slices into sealable bags or containers and freeze most of it, thawing it out as needed.
