My Third Set, My Second Set Saved My Life

I heard the name "Michelin Man" decades ago. My first introduction to car safety came from seeing a blowout at high speed. A man who rebuilt a big-block in my Mustang explained that the best tires are Michelin. Decades later, a microburst dropped a record 19 inches of rain per hour on I-45. I could see the rooster tail of the water my tires pumped out of the way as I moved forward. Countless vehicles around me went off the road. Many were hurt, two died, and I was shaken. And the ride is quieter, more comfortable, and always gets me where I am going. So, yeah, you can call me a Michelin Man!

Yes

Just couldn't say enough. Paying a little bit more money upfront means a huge return later on down the road so to speak. My Michelin defender ones lasted 70,000 miles and we're showing slight signs of cracking. The traction was still very good and if I had to, I could've pushed it another year. I had them rotated and balanced once about 40,000 miles ago, we've been across the country twice and I tow regularly. Just doubled down on a good thing then purchased the defender twos. Best of the best in my opinion. If there had to be one complaint with the first tire would be that it picked up small rocks on gravel surfaces. A very small price to pay, Along with the cost for this type of quality. The quiet, the ride quality, limited body roll, etc. I put them on my dad‘s car, on my wife's Prius and on our work truck. Don't get me started lol! I'll never buy another brand of car tire again.

Disappointed

We recently replaced the OEM tires that came on our 2020 F150 with Michelin's defender ltx m/s 2's. I was looking for a tire that did everything well with emphasis on performance in snow and on slick roads while being comfortable and QUIET. Literally everyone I spoke to and everything I read about these tires talked about how quiet and comfortable they were. Our truck currently has between 50 and 60 thousand miles on it and we have less than 2,000 miles on the Defender's, I can say without hesitation these tires are not as quiet as what we took off. If I had it to do over I would put the OEM tires back on.

Thank you for choosing the Defender LTX M/S2 tires and for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear the tires aren’t as quiet as expected. we recommend visiting your local Michelin dealer for an inspection. They can verify proper installation and alignment or other factors that could contribute to unexpected road noise. When they have a michelin brand why would you go anywhere else.

bought the tires as a replacement for my 2019 Toyota? Tundra, 4 wheel drive tires are fantastic in the snow. Tires are very smooth. I used a decimal meter to compare the noise level with the previous set of tires. I had and they are quiet as a mouse plan to enjoy these tires for the next eighty thousand miles

Quiet, efficient, good looking tires mostly for on-road service.

Quiet, efficient, good looking tires mostly for on-road service. Comfortable on the od good grip and low noise. Thread is strong and long lasting. However, shoulders are fragile and easy to puncture (non repairable) or get bumps. That's why I'd suggest to stick to the paved roads only.

Great tires but slightly under predecessor

I purchased these tires after 6 years and 30k miles on my Michelin Defender LTX M/S. I was a little leery with the UTQG Traction rating dropping to B from the previous A but with tread life listed similarly and great previous performance, I gave them a shot. I've driven 2,500 miles before posting the review. The M/S2 are fantastic on dry pavement and dissipate water very well. Unfortunately, around 35 F they become noticeably harder and break free much easier on cold or wet pavement compared to the previous M/S. With that, my initial assumption is that they have worse performance but herein lies the paradox. While they don't seem great getting moving and break free easy on acceleration, they seem hold true and stop well once in motion. Snow performance is similar to the aforementioned, but again cornering is fairly steady until acceleration is applied. The truck will still go where it's intended, but with considerably more wheel spin than the previous M/S in 2H. MPG appears to be comparable between the 113T SL M/S and 117T XL M/S2. Both ride quiet and have good feel when braking. They have a good look but not overly aggressive and don't pick up too many rocks. I would 100% recommend these for those who rarely experience snow or cold but would probably stick to swapping these out for Michelin Ice X for the cooler or snow filled months or plan to use full time AWD and the possibility of reduced tread life due to the additional slipping.

Smooth ride

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got these Michelin Defender LTX M/s2 tires to go our family's 2019 Toyota Sequoia. We were running on a different brand of tires but will have to admit that these tires give us quite a comfortable ride! They don't look quite as rugged as ones we've had but if these will last as long as they're rated for them I'll be more than happy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Tire – Smooth, Quiet, and Built to Last

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Tire – Smooth, Quiet, and Built to Last I couldn't be happier with the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 tires. From the moment they were installed, the ride quality was noticeably smoother and quieter than anything I've run before. Highway driving is exceptionally stable and comfortable, even on long trips, and road noise is minimal. Wet traction is excellent and they inspire confidence in changing conditions. Steering feels solid and predictable, and the overall ride has a very “OEM-plus” feel — refined, controlled, and comfortable. These tires truly shine for highway miles and daily driving. What really sets them apart is the balance: comfort, durability, and performance all in one. You can tell these are built with quality materials and thoughtful engineering. They're not the cheapest option, but you absolutely get what you pay for — longevity, safety, and peace of mind. If you want a premium all-season tire that delivers a smooth ride, long tread life, and dependable performance, the Defender LTX M/S2 is worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Best ever all around performance, period.

Great all around performance from these Defender LTX M/S2 tires. As always, Michelin tires are always the best choice in all categories that matter. They consistently deliver excellent traction, handling and comfort all while providing the longest durability I've ever experienced. I've been driving for well over fifty years and almost all of those have been on Michelin tires. When purchasing new vehicles which are not factory equipped with Michelin tires, I've seen the performance from other manufacturers drop off significantly. In those cases I've opted to replace those tires over to Michelin's at the earliest possible time. I only choose Michelin tires for all of my family vehicles because they have always been the best performing brand I've ever experienced.

Amazing tires

I have a lifted Ford F150 and I had a big mud tires and it was a ROUGH and LOUD ride. I had the Michelin Defenders installed today and it's like a completely different truck. It rides SO MUCH better and quiet it's hard to believe. I don't write a lot of reviews, but these tires are truly amazing and deserve a five star review.
