Roku nice but takes some practice

What I like about my Roku: it's a one-time purchase, less that what was my monthly TV cable bill; it's introduced me to different programs through Roku; like the Live TV option; lets me download some applications for some sites I enjoy; works well with my lower WiFi signal; like the voice option. What I don't like: had trouble with initial setup and had to set it aside a couple days, unplugged, before I could try again and get it to connect; have trouble with its schedule of programs for live TV; hard to find program that has a more common word in it's title; has apps listed that I didn't select and would like to remove because it's then hard to find what I want; haven't tackled more advanced options yet.

3 annoying issues

I have a Roku Ultra 2022 and there are 3 annoying issues with it: 1. You can't stream Bluetooth audio and TV audio at the same time. It's either one or the other. Same behavior using headphones in the remote. This is really bad for those with a hearing impairment that might want to listen at a separate volume via headphones or hearing aids. 2. The white status LED is always on. There is no way to dim it or just turn it off. It's very bright and annoying especially in a bedroom at night. 3. No backlight on the remote keys. This makes using the remote difficult when there is very little ambient light in the room. These seem like no-brainer features that should have been included. I'll probably return it and try to find something else.

Works great... for a while

This worked very well for about a year. Now, every evening, like clockwork no matter what we're streaming, we can count on having to unplug, reboot and reconnect to our internet. This will happen several times in a 2-3 hour span while other connected devices in the house have no issues, losing connectivity to the internet. I hate to think that I'd have to buy a new one of these every year to not have issues like this.

Superior Product

We used another product for sometime. The people who install and update our Audio/Visual equipment recommended we switch to using Roku, saying it was a superior product AND that it was the only brand they installed. Their advice in the past has always been good, so they took everything else out and replaced it with Roku. Both my wife and I adapted quickly and are pleased with the utility of Roku. Wish we had done it sooner, but at least we’ve got the latest and greatest as of now! M

got our monies worth

We purchased the new Roku to replace an old one we had. The old one was starting to have intermittent issues. A couple of times a week we would have to unplug the old one from power source and re-plug. Never quit working but the hassle of unplugging and re-plugging became more than the cost of a new one.

Superior Product

I have several Roku’s & use Fire TV for my elderly Dad as it integrates with his Alexa. I find the Roku so much better, easier to control & customize & the Ultra is the best model with its built-in headphone plug in the remote. I also love that I’ve only just had to replace the original Roku I bought like 10+ years ago, nice that you let the consumer get a good lifespan before upgrading past the point of functionality.

Picture is hazy.

The picture quality is not nearly as good as with any other devices I watch on my television. Even my old Roku Premiere had more bright, deep color depth. The picture coming through the Ultra always looks somewhat foggy. If I watch a streaming channel directly on my smart TV, the picture quality is much better.

Overall good product.

I have 3 other Rokus, all sticks, so I know how they work. I have the ultra tied into my surround and it works reasonably well. I’ve seen other reviews about trouble with the remote and I agree. The remote doesn’t always turn on/off the tv, Roku and the surround, leaving one or two either on or off. Also the buttons on the remote don’t make good contact which probably results in the failure to turn on or off.

My 5th Roku

ROKU has provided my family with ease of use, overwhelming access and great user interface. It is reliable and fast and to me the best way to view content on a TV. The best aspect of the device in my mind is that I can plug an external hard drive into it via USB, and I have at my fingertips 3 terabytes of all my favorite videos, photos and music... easily accessed, immediately, anytime. I've been using ROKU since I cut the cord almost 20 years now. I've watched it improve and improve over time. Customer support has always been quick and fantastic. Can imagine using anything else.

Acorn Problem on Roku model 4802X

Every time I try to watch a show on ACORN it plays for about 30 seconds and then reverts to the main menu. I also have a Roku 3 on another tv. I can watch the same ACORN show on it with no problems using the same Acorn account. Could not find a way to contact customer support so I'm putting it here.
