When pairing the Q990D with my 75 inch Samsung tv I truly elevated my entertainment experience to a level I never dreamed. When streaming movies from native tv apps I get fully immersed from the Dolby Atmos for I truly feel like I am sitting inside a bubble with action happening behind me, above me, beside me, and in front of me. I am also able to pass my PS5 through the soundbar without losing any of my favorite gaming features. I have had zero regrets since making this purchase.

Sound is very clear, it has more bass which feels as if you are there on the screen feeling all the experience hands on. Surround sound is the best.

My previous soundbar, while sufficient for my old setup, just couldn't quite cut it with the size of my new great room ( > 400 sqft, with tall ceilings). Setup was simple. Other than HDMI (or other connector) to the central speaker, all other components connect wirelessly and just needed power. I would recommend if you have the rear speakers on stands, that you get stands with both support in the rear and underneath. Right away I could tell the difference in sound quality. While my old system had speakers which could be adjusted to provide a somewhat balanced sound, this provided a substantially fuller sound right out of the box. I will say that the subwoofer is fairly large, and I was worried once I realized I hadn't planned a place to put it in advance. Ultimately I found a place in my setup that I'm happy with. I'll also say while my television is not a Samsung TV, I had no trouble controlling the setup over CEC using either the television remote or an external streaming box. I really appreciated that this worked, since my previous two setups have had issues once I went cross-vendor. I'm very happy with these speakers. I had somewhat given up on the idea of having a truly robust sound setup for this room, but this gives me everything I could want.

Just ordered this amazing soundbar for my new home theater and cannot wait to get it installed. My only concern is mounting the rear satellites to the wall. It doesnt appear that the rear speakers come with any wall mount brackets. Also, what is the thread pattern in the casing to accept the screws? I might need to fabricate something. Any help Samsung?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgraded from a 5.0 Sonos system, and the 11.1.4 that the Q990D offers is a significant improvement. First of all, the sub is amazing. Just having that LFE channel at all really opens up the range of the audio content, but the included sub for this system is top tier. I found the option on the remote to change the bass level to be a great addition, since it makes it simple to turn down during naps and back up after. Second, this soundbar is HUGE. Anything less than a 55" TV will be absolutely dwarved. It is almost twice the size of the Sonos Beam (Gen 1). It is also heavy, so plan your placement accordingly or consider wall mounting it. The sound quality of this thing is astounding, you don't know what you've been missing until you hear it. Third, the satellite speakers are of the same high quality as the rest of the system. Also considerably heavy, I've opted to wall mount these as well. I love how the side speakers on the sound bar and each of these work together to make a circumference of amazing sound. Lastly, how amazing is the Dolby Atmos/surround performance? Well, my 4YO was watching me play a game, where there was a waterfall about mid range from the player. They went to the right rear speaker looking for it, saying "there's water over here". They ended up following the sound around the room as I turned the player in place, which was quite entertaining.

The breathtaking execution of Dolby Atmos in a convenient and compact form factor is almost unbelievable. Setup was an absolute breeze. Using HDMI eARC on my Samsung S95C QD-OLED TV, the soundbar automatically connected on powerup and configured the Q-Symphony setting. This allows my TV speakers to be used as additional directional sound, creating an even deeper sound spectrum. There were two obvious upgrades I noticed this year from last year's Q990C. First, it's has HDMI 2.1 passthrough, allowing for 4K 120Hz, which is a must have for next-gen consoles. Second, they changed the color, which is a major aesthetic upgrade in my opinion. You can see the difference in my surround speaker images. The speaker on the left is the Q990C, which is a greyish color, while the Q990D on the right is solid black. Trust me when I say it is a huge improvement in how good the soundbar looks under your TV. The remote is the same slim formfactor as last year's model, with the convenient "CH LEVEL" button that lets you navigate directly to speaker level adjustments, and the "TONE CONTROL" button that takes you right to the bass and treble adjustments. If you haven't purchased a Samsung soundbar in a few years, you'll find these buttons a convenient addition to the remote. The sound on this unit is loud, and I mean loud, and the base is comparable to an actual movie theater. Where the HW-Q990D really shines is its implementation of Dolby Atmos. When you watch content that has full Dolby Atmos support, the depth and accuracy of the directional sound will leave you speechless. If you are using a Q-Symphony enabled Samsung TV, it literally sounds like voices are coming directly out of the characters' mouths on the screen. If you are looking for a full-scale soundscape in video games, movies, and sports, the HW-Q990D will give you that and so much more in a convenient and compact formfactor. I promise this soundbar will make your friends and family jealous of your home setup.

I made the good decision. I was about to buy sony bravia sound bar but i ended buying samsung because price and features. The sound is so immersive and make it feels like theatrical experience at home. What i like the most is dolby atmos, dtx:x, and spacefit pro which allow sound to move around you in three dimensional space.

It honestly sounds like a movie theater when you crank it up enough! I sometimes turn it down because I worry about noise complaints, so definitely no need to worry about it being loud enough! There is a night mode feature, so volume control is no issue at all either. Music sounds great, movies are amazing assuming they're well mixed and the current problem of dialogue volume on 2 and everything else at 9. The only issue I personally have faced so far is every so often, maybe like once a week or so, the sound will get choppy for about 5 minutes then fix itself. Besides that, highly recommend.
