Even with new motherboard put in last week, rear speakers and subwoofer don't work, front panel display doesn't work, and device remote does nothing. Repair claims it's the motherboard of the LG tv which is only a couple of years old. Their diagnosis doesn't make sense to me. The TV motherboard shouldn't have anything to do with the front panel display nor the remote. Seems like Samsung is just passing the buck.

Following a ten-minute operational period, the sound bar underwent an automatic update, subsequently ceasing functionality. The device exhibited persistent PRD errors, failed to power off correctly, and its HDMI ports became inoperable. A straightforward return was facilitated.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The good - For years I a receiver/surround system with large front speakers. The sound was excellent but I decided it was time to simplify my setup, and after a lot of research ended up with the Q990D. I have a Samsung Smart TV, Dish Network Hopper 3, and an Xbox Series X. Setup was easy, with the Xbox to HDMI 1 and the Hopper to HDMI 2. Sound is excellent. Front sound may be slightly less quality than with standalone front speakers but it's barely noticeably. And surround sound from rears is noticeably better. Very pleased with the sound quality. The bad - initial setup with Alexa was easy, you could just say “change soundbar to HDMI 1”. It was so convenient! Stopped working after an update. So you have to use the remote. Well to go from HDMI 2 to 1 you have to press the source repeatedly through all of the options that aren't even hooked up (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.). And frequently it says “HDMI 1”, but doesn't switch to it, switching back to 2. So you go through the list again. All I need is HDMI 1 and 2. You should be able to just press source once to toggle between them. Then there's the issue where the sound occasionally cuts off. It's primarily when fast forwarding when watching Dish Network. The picture is there but the sound cuts out. You have to turn off the soundbar, then back on. Then rewind Dish to hear the sound you missed. That solves it every time, but very frustrating. So do I recommend it? Yes, but only if you want great sound that's frustrating to use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upgraded from a 700 series that just had the sound bar and sub. What a difference! This sound bar is noticeably bigger. Same goes with the sub. The two rear speakers are compact and have speakers facing in three directions. Setup was easy, I selected the Q symphony option on my Samsung TVs sound output and it connected to my soundbar instantly. The rear speakers did not connect at first (admittedly i forgot to plug them in) which required unplugging and replugging the sound bar and TV to get them to sync. After that, zero issues.

I love the rear speakers and they add a lot to movies. Make sure it is set up properly for the Dolby Atmos as it took me a while to get it to it's full potential with the fire stick.
