[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so thoroughly impressed by this sound bar. Our household loves striving to create the best soundscapes and experiences we can, as we digest a LOT of media. We selected the Samsung HW-S800D (3.1.2 channel setup) knowing that this best carries theater-like sound throughout the large room this lives in. What really sold us was the form factor AND usage of Dolby Atmos, which is largely why the 3.1.2 channel setup sounds as good as it does. Setup was NOT as easy as expected (or as the instructions tried to convince us it was). The subwoofer did not automatically pair with the soundbar like the instructions alluded to, and I had to do the manual pairing process thrice to finally get them to pair. I believe the issue was that the soundbar was trying to download/install a software update after I got it set up on my wifi and in my Smart Things app. I say “I believe”, since there was no indication that this software update was being attempted until after each timeI rebooted the soundbar while following the instructions under troubleshooting the subwoofer. I do like that the Smart Things app integration (and wifi integration for that matter) was optional. It added additional steps to my setup since I understand and appreciate the integrations it provides my household, but I love that it was not mandatory for the folks who may not care. Overall, as frustrating as the setup was for a few moments, the sound quality is immaculate and worth the fuss ten times over.

Meaning if you're an audiophile looking for full enriched sounds this will do well in a bedroom environment (smaller space). For a bigger room no, I would advise against. What it does provide is a quick access for a temporary fix. Like I stated earlier the living room experience. Its worth the price at least when I got it on black friday.

The smaller, low profile footprint of the soundbar is great, but I’m unfortunately very underwhelmed by the performance of the product. Based on the product info online and various reviews online, I was expecting “bigger” sound. Especially for the price. A few issues: WiFi connectivity is not great. I can get it to connect, but it won’t stay connected. I want to use the Q Symphony feature, but it won’t stay connected. I’ve switched to Bluetooth. Second, the SOUND: it’s clear, it’s better than the TV, but I was really hoping for fuller, bigger sound - better, punchier bass. I’ve tried adjusting settings but even after doing that, the results are lackluster. The subwoofer is on the smaller side and the drivers on the soundbar are small due to the smaller profile, so I guess I should have known better.

We did a lot of research and found the Samsung S-series bar to be what we were looking for. Great sound quality where you can hear every word, even whispers at any volume. But in those movies where there are car crashes or explosions you can feel the vibrations and feel like you are actually there. I am very pleased with my Samsung sound bar. It has brought a whole new enjoyment to our movie watching experience.

It almost sounds disconnected from the rest of the system. I miss the old Dolby 5.1. Where are you at speaker's coming at him? From? Me and my family use our soundbar every night of the week and especially you love it on movie nights because it literally sounds like you have surround sound system around your whole room. The sound quality is crisp and clear and never distorted. Very easy to use and easy to set up I'm planning on buying another Samsung soundbar for the bedroom and for my den. I absolutely LOVE the wonderful sound that makes listening to music, watching movies and series the most amazing experience! The only thing that made me give 4 Stars is the sound is not the same at the back of the room, and I thought it'd be more expansive. Maybe the room is too big for this set up and I might need to upgrade, and add speaks in the back.
