This unit is a very high quality product. You will be impressed right out of the box before you finish the simple assembly. Lots of features. Reminds you when maintenance needs performed. I especially like the four outlet cord that comes with it. This cord allows you to use both legs of the 240 volts instead of just one side. This gives you the ability to use the full rared output of the generator not just 1/2. The receptacles on the control panel also allow for this same usage. the automatic throttle control saves fuel as I usually do not need 8000 watts of power when dry camping with my RV. I just retired from 47 years in factory skilled trades maintenance and I am a skilled trades instructor at a local 2 year college and I am very impressed with this generator.

170 hours on generator -two months old Stopped producing power. Not happy. Power would come back when I jumped the field with a drill - spinning it backwards. Brought to a dealer rep - we will see what they find. Hoping it will be under warranty without a battle. Walpole,MA

I researched generators for a while and this unit is perfect for what I need and the price was excellent. I set it all up and tested it out, everything works fine. I don't really want a storm or power outage but until that happens, I haven't fully tested this unit yet.

Thorough research and customer satisfaction, were the basis for my selection. Review of the product was simplified by the product manual, which was most informative and easy to understand. I will be getting a quote for the home standby system as soon as possible. In Florida, a generator is as necessary as homeowners insurance.

Bought this generator in May, 2018. Worked fine for a few short power outages. Live in rural area and need Generator for power outages as we are on a well and have no water when power out. In Sept 2021, we had a major hurricane come through and had no power for four days. As soon as power went out, we started Generac and it ran great for about 48 hours. At 3 in the morning, it stopped. I checked, fuel good, oil good and had been overall for only 76 hours per meter. Could crank it it but would not keep running. Took it to tech who could not fix it. Paid the $250 and sent to next tech. He could not fix it, paid over $500 for all the parts replaced Next, sent it to "Certified Generac" Tech. After months, was finally told it could not be fixed. According to Tech, Generac refused to assist him any further. After only 76 hours of run time, I now have a 450 lbs anchor as it is useless. I have not had a chance to run this generator for an extended period of time yet, but I know that it is easy to start and has sufficient power rating to run a refrigerator, freezer, television, a microwave, and two electric heaters, and a few lights during a power outage. Easy to roll it into service and place into service.

Our power has been out for the last 3 days from hurricane dorian, this generator has worked great. We switched our house over to the Generac 8000W generator as soon as we lost power. Fired up AC, some lights, a few receptacles and refrigerator, WORKS GREAT and has worked for us on a tank of gas for 17hrs. HOT HUMID days with no power, glad we have our Generac generator.

I just had the generator wired to my house and the electrician and I ran a test. It ran everything in the house. It won't run the heat pump or furnace, but that's o.k., it will keep us from going to a hotel and the contents of the refrigerator /freezer won't go bad.

Like others, I do find this generator to be a little on the loud side. I also have an older Generac 4000XL that is nowhere near as loud. With that said, I am very happy with the generator so far. I have run it only about 20 minutes but fully intend to give it a break-in workout this weekend. First impressions are it is substantially more than the 4000XL in ways far beyond just the wattage ratings. I like the electric start, the tank filler screen, the fuel line filter, the metal fuel shutoff valve, and many other details that just make me feel this generator is considerably more solid. I do wish it was a pressurized oil system and filter on the engine, but I could not justify the price increase to get that feature. All in all, I find this generator to be an excellent value. Yes there are trade-offs, but it will serve my home backup purposes well.
