I bought it for emergency power for when our tree lined street takes out the power lines. I've only run it for a few minutes so far, to test the breaker box connection. It ran the well pump, furnace, and a few lights without issue. There will be enough power in reserve to keep us comfortable if we have another snow disaster this winter.

I got a great price on the GP7500 (no electric start) so decided not to suffer through a power outage at the cottage again. It went together easily and my 13 year old started it with the first pull or two. haven't needed it yet, but I'm confident it will do the job well. One drawback is that I had expected it to run quieter.

The unit is noisy but not so much that it would be a disturbance. Our old generator was much louder. This unit is quite compact and easy to move around. It will definitely come in handy when the power goes out! Love that it takes 3 different types of fuel too. Very convenient. Generac is such a trusted brand that lasts too!

After 3 years of ownership with w1 hr/year running, had to run generator for 4 days continuously with time-outs for refueling and oil-checking. Clean gas, fresh oil 2 days prior to weather event and when needed, the generator started immediately, took the load with no surging. Minor light flickering of LED lights when dimmed, but voltage was spot-on and consistent. Heavy motor starting loads did not change generator output or tone and fuel useage to run 4 bedroom house with well, furnace, lighting, entertainment, refrigerator, dish-washer and on occasion electric oven was about 5 gallons per 24 hour day. Generator is well designed and apparently bullet proof.

Purchased the unit the morning Sandy was to hit my area. The unit was very easy to set-up and operate. The only issue is that the unit has started to leak after only 30 hours of use. After speaking with a Generac rep from the 1-800 service number, I was told to operate the unit, check the oil every 4 hours and bring it in for service once power was restored. Not the reliability I was looking for, but overall it is still working. I hope the repair and warranty process runs smoother.

Bought this generator in May, 2018. Worked fine for a few short power outages. Live in rural area and need Generator for power outages as we are on a well and have no water when power out. In Sept 2021, we had a major hurricane come through and had no power for four days. As soon as power went out, we started Generac and it ran great for about 48 hours. At 3 in the morning, it stopped. I checked, fuel good, oil good and had been overall for only 76 hours per meter. Could crank it it but would not keep running. Took it to tech who could not fix it. Paid the $250 and sent to next tech. He could not fix it, paid over $500 for all the parts replaced Next, sent it to "Certified Generac" Tech. After months, was finally told it could not be fixed. According to Tech, Generac refused to assist him any further. After only 76 hours of run time, I now have a 450 lbs anchor as it is useless. this machine is a beast! it is heavy and powerful and should provide the essential back up power my home needs. The manual for the initial set up was small in size which was a shame as a big machine should equal a big picture. the generator is on wheels but is not easy to move as it is soooo heavy. it also would have been nice if generac offered a custom cover for the machine as well.

Just purchased this unit. Easy to assemble and service to run. Started in just a couple of revolutions. Low idle works as ment too. When power is needed it throttles up. Started my 4 hp compressor for initial test. No problem. I would recommend this unit.

I give this 17500E a 5 star rating. The only con I have is the portability. I have to move the gen. around. I mounted a heavy duty caster with brake the second day I owned it , this totally changed the portability, I can move it around with one hand. Also I believe the handle needs to be adjustable so you don't have to do a shoulder lift to get it rolling.

We absolutely LOVE our new generator. We can run all the critical items in our home during an outage, including our ductless A/C unit! We lived through hurricane Matthew last year and with a new storm season on us again here in FL, we bought this generator. Its as close to 'stand by' as we can afford - and we couldn't be happier to have it!
