A Match Made in Heaven!

There are rare moments in life when all of the ingredients come together in one harmonious blend to make a product that is both extremely tasty and cost efficient. These moments are even more rare in the world of whiskey! Jameson's Caskmates Stout Edition is one such item. The nose is pleasant with whiff's of the stout coming through most noticeably. It is almost as if you are walking through the brewery and being surrounded by that scent of yeast. There is no overwhelming scent of alcohol which you find in some blends of this nature. On the palette the taste is surprisingly smooth for a 40 proof whiskey. The buttered biscuit notes you find in much of Irish whiskey are mellowed by the stout and become more of a pancake covered in rich maple syrup! After that initial taste there is a mild dark chocolate note on the finish. I would say the finish itself is a little short but the overall experience is very good. This is not a perfect whiskey, so Heaven still has a ways to go. But for the price, and the sheer pleasure one gets in drinking the Stout Edition, one can not go wrong! The more I drink it the better it gets.

Amazingly Smooth & Delicious

I have been a dedicated fan of Jameson for many years and was so excited to visit the Jameson Distillery in Ireland last year and learn about the Stout version. I picked up a bottle in Dublin at the airport on my way home and now it is all I drink. It is incredibly smooth and wonderful alone or on the rocks.

Love Jameson IPA Caskmates

This is just barely my favorite Caskmates offering. I am not an IPA fan, too hoppy for me most o f the time, but love what the barrel does to this whiskey! It's almost sweet and floral notes make it a great sipper neat. But it does come alive when paired with an IPA as well. (Friends own a brewery so I have to do it once in a while!)

It was really smooth, and had a great aroma, it was easy to sip alone or mix with soda or juice.I found that it was easy to bring to a party because most people enjoy it.  I would like to see a caramel infusion available for mixing, and sipping just so it could have a nice aftertaste.

Best Whiskey on the market

Fell in love with this Whiskey at first sip. You don’t have to like IPA to appreciate the magic that happens with this edition. The alcohol burn is subdued significantly which provides a better overall drinking experience; in all honesty that is about only difference I’ve noticed with this edition compared to the traditional Jameson. This has replaced traditional Jameson as my go to drink.

Excellent marriage of two crafts.

Somebody at Jameson learned that home brewers were using whiskey casks to age their beer and enhanced their product. So Jameson tried to reverse the process by aging whiskey in beer barrel. Love this whiskey. It was a bar maid who turned me on to IPA Caskmate and I made a point to go back and Thank Her.

It is Jameson with a delightful, luscious twist!

My introduction was made by my Son-in-Law who picked up a bottle in his travels and offered be a wee dram one evening before dinner... Then I noticed this "Stout" version of Jameson on the shelf in the establishment I frequent when purchasing my AlOH beverages. I was curious about the "variation" and what it might be like to have some around...At worst I know my Son in Law would enjoy it when visiting. I purchased a "5th" just as a sample to see if it would be a solid "add" to the bar I keep...WOW! and WOW again! It is Jameson with a luscious twist for my palate. Have "stocked" it faithfully since and ! have my Son in law to thank for this good fortune!

Smoother than a baby's bottom

Hello, long time drinker, first time official reviewer. I hate stouts. Well, used to (started liking Guinness after I visited Ireland, go figure). I drink a lot of IPAs. For some reason I'm not very partial to the IPA edition. I do however, have always LOVED the stout version. The 6 D's of this are Delicious, Delightful, Delectable, Daring, Divine, and Delicious.

Jameson IPA edition is

Jameson IPA edition is a tasty whiskey that can be brought to any get together or consumed after a long day of work. It is great just having it on the rocks and leaves a smooth after taste. For the quality of the whiskey you don’t pay as much as you would think. It’s a great deal and a great whiskey!

Pair with a craft IPA and whoa!!!

The caskmates IPA edition is great on its own. It’s a great drinking whiskey and makes a mean old fashioned, but what I liked best was pairing with craft beer. Don’t think this whiskey tastes like IPA, it doesn’t. You get maybe a hint of citrus in the nose, but it really shines when you have an IPA back. Take a sip of Caskmates IPA, then enjoy a bright west coast style hoppy IPA and wow! The grapefruit/pine from those west coast hops wake up some lemon/orange/lime citrus in that whiskey that you wouldn’t notice otherwise. It’s such a great beer and a shot pairing, but I don’t shoot the whiskey, I’ll just sip on it because the pairing is so good! Cheers, y’all!
