SHORTLIVED

We bought this rain barrel 3 years ago. The flat back does not have the integrity to support the water weight. It flexed out and cracked 2" from the bottom with a 5" crack across the back at 3 yrs old, (Not due to a freeze) Very disappointing longevity for the price. I would not recommend this style of rain barrel.

Rain Barrel Split on the Seam

This is the first time I have ever received a product I was not satisfied with from Walmart. There was no damage to the packaging and it arrived in a timely manner. However, the first time water went into the barrel I found a hole in the seam towards the lower end of the unit. Water simply streamed out the side. I will contact Walmart in hopes of some satisfaction, but at this point I can't recommend this product to anyone.

Oak colored Rain Barrel

I liked that the back is flat . It sits nicely against the house. The screen on top where the water goes in is not tight to the barrel, so I have put a line of clear caulk around them so the skeeters don't breed in the water. They look nice and give an old timey feel to my yard. I had ordered the oak which is a nice natural color, but the bands are the same color as the barrel. I thought they were black like they look in the picture.

I basically like it, but where is the lead?

I basically like it; it's very similar to another one I bought on Amazon a year or so ago. But on this one I had to enlarge the hole in to top to accommodate the downspout extension. And I discovered that whoever had cut the hole originally left the cutout inside the barrel with all the plastic sawdust. One real concern is that there were several notices on it that said the water collected in it will not be drinkable because of lead. Where's the lead? Plastic with lead? I use the water for my vegetable garden and don't want lead there.

a drop saved

All parts were there. Used the overflow port to another barrel. Had to drill out the hole which comes plugged std which is good, just need a drill motor and bit. The bands representing the steel on a real barrel were not painted. The 1st one I had was so I just painted some on it. Had a can of black spray paint and some painters tape laying around. No problem., looks like the otherone now. New model adds the intake port.

Good Idea for Water Conservation

This is a good size and it's manageable and can be moved when empty. It's convenient that it has a flat side so it can sit closely up against the house or other location. In an heavy downpour, it's amazing how quickly this 50 gallon container fills!

Rain barrels

The main reason for getting 4 of these was to prevent a constant pooling of water in the front and back yard caused by excessive rain at times. The barrels are light, easy to handle, and have brass faucets. The opening under the screen is not large enough, not in the correct position for most downspouts and are held in place by 6 metal screws which need to be removed to get to the faucet packed inside. Once you remove these screws don't re-install them until you are completely finished because after removing them 3 times they loose their tension against the screen. Use a sabre saw to enlarge the hole within 1" of the screen increases the in flow of water greatly. Use all of the Teflon tape on the threads of the faucet when installing it or the faucet will turn out on you when fastening a hose to it after a couple of times. Using a quick disconnect on the faucet and the hose makes using the barrel even better. Elevate the barrel higher than you think it needs to be makes it better to use and increases the discharge flow of water even better.

Arrived on time and barrel is sturdy, but you have to take it apart, turn it upside down to get to the parts you need to assemble it. A real pain when parts also could have been put in the box in a zip lock bag instead of fishing them out. Teflon tape to make spout water tight would have been a nice touch.

Decent barrel for extra water storage

Easy to install, functional, and looks good. Nice to have extra water storage for watering plants or emergencies. A little pricey for a 50 gallon jug though.

Good buy!

Bought this for my husband and he loves it! I had done a little research on the different brands before purchasing and this was one that had a higher rating. Easy to hook up, durable....no complaints or disappointments whatsoever.
