Rich smooth coffee. It is difficult to give an objective review regarding the taste of anything. That being said it is a quality coffee which I found to be rich in flavor, not bitter. I believe this is what can be expected of a Sumatra coffee. I was coming from a few months of a Honduran coffee blend which had more complex flavors of chocolate and berries and at first, I missed that complexity. A few mornings of this Sumatra and I grew to appreciate its more subtle but rich and smooth qualities. As with any good coffee, grind, brew within the SCA Golden Cup recommendations, and consume within 30 minutes.

I purchased this dark roast instead of my preferred (Lavazza), which was out of stock. The Sumatra blend is not heavy like a french or italian roast. But it delights the palate with a moderate smoky flavor, resolving into a nutty (somewhere between a Brazil nut and coconut for me) and subtle herbal notes, kind of reminding me of redwoods. I drink coffee with half-and-half so my senses have more complexities than drinking black coffee. I have enjoyed this so far, but will still look for my preferred when it arrives in stock.

Excellent taste and powerful wake up effect

Delicious coffee. We use a super-automatic coffee machine that grinds the beans and brews one serving at a time. The quality and taste of thus coffee is superb. We are on our second bag, and will buy more.

The Sumatra beans we have been using from another store the past few years were discontinued so we decided to try these. At first sniff they smelled great! We use them in an automatic cappuccino machine for espresso. We noticed that they are stronger in flavor than what we had been drinking, but quickly adjusted and love them. At less than 50 cents per ounce, we are happy to have found our new beans. I just ordered 2 more bags!

super flavor, no bitterness

I like to try different coffees instead of always buying the same thing. Sumatran beans are among my favorite, but there is definitely a difference in taste among different labels. This one does not disappoint - full bodied, bold taste and smooth. I make coffee a little on the strong side with an extra scoop and an extremely fine grind, and this one wasn't bitter at all. I'll definitely reorder this.

When I had my first cup of this, I was surprised by the taste. I didn't immediately love it because it was a different flavor profile from any other coffee that I've had. After a few mornings drinking this, I became quite pleased and LOVED the taste. If you're adventurous with your coffee, I highly suggest trying this brand. You'll end up very pleased.

I am not a coffee snob, but this lacks flavor. I tried grinding different ways and brewing at different strengths, still lacking flavor. This is what my family calls colored water.
