This review was collected as part of a promotion, and the opinions are my own.
The offer was presented, to but the Member's Mark Light String Cheese, try it, and then offer up a review. I jumped at that offer, since everyone in my house enjoys string cheese... human and beast!
What purchased was a 30 ounce package of cheese, with 36 pieces of individually wrapped string cheese. I am a bit disappointed that the servings of string cheese are never quite the 1 ounce serving size, but that is all brands... I assume it's because the string cheese is marketed more towards children... being almost 59 years old, I guess string cheese brings out the kid in me.
I got my cheese home, took the the appropriate pictures, and then came the fun part! We ate some! I wasn't the best string cheese I have ever eaten, but it was far from the worst.
Of course, the kid in me has to eat the string cheese in, well... strings! If you don't eat string cheese in strings, I don't think your opinion of said product could really be trusted!
I sat down with my wrapped cheese, and I was immediately like a rock star, surrounded by groupies! Everyone wanted a taste of my cheese. I unwrapped my cheese, and doggie butts wiggled with excitement, and showed great disappointment and disapproval, when I dared take the first bite!
Yummm!!! Okay, okay! Y'all can taste it, to!! Bites all around, creating more happy doggie butt wiggles. Oh, they liked the string cheese, too!! So much so, we were forced to down a few sticks... you know, to give you a truly informed opinion. With this being a light string cheese, with 50% less fat and 25% fewer calories, we didn't feel any guilt!
The texture was superb! It peeled off in strings of any size, from thread thickness to half the stick! Whatever size string I wanted, it peeled off nicely.
The texture of the cheese in my mouth, didn't disappoint! It was all creamy and melty, just like a fine cheese.
As for flavor, well... it lacks a bit of oomph! It has more flavor than many brands, but also less flavor than many of the more popular brands... there is a reason those brands are so popular!
I DO like that this cheese doesn't have and extremely salty flavor, but that might be more to do with less flavor... maybe more flavor equals more salty taste.
All in all, the Member's Mark Light String Cheese is absolutely a contender for space in my refrigerator and diet!
