Because they flex and stretch, they don't tear easily and they also fit different shapes of tall kitchen trash cans. What else can you ask for? There's a bonus: because they flex and they're tough, they can hold heavier loads. In other words, you don't have to worry whether you'll have a tear/wreck when it's full and you're taking it out to the big bin. They're just ideal, really.
