On Black Friday we entered the world of home security cameras. Within a few days our first four cameras were bringing peace of mind. This last purchase was my second order of two more each time. Our NightOwl system of eight and the DVR work day and night to allow us peace of mind. My wife can step to the monitor and see those things that go boom in the night. We both appreciate the quality and features (and the value for our money!

I upgrade my old 8channel 1080p to the 4K... The quality is just like they stated!  Vivid & much better, the field of view is wider also. Only negative is thde DVR doesnt have audio in like my old one; I only had one audio camera anyway. So, it was a good trade.

4K is much Better!

I have been very happy with the quality of the equipment. I was very surprised at how well the cameras work at night. The only beef I have is when I bought some extra cameras I bought the wrong ones because the seller’s didn’t tell me that camera wouldn’t work on my unit. Tip go to night owl website and check first.

Bought this system to replace a prior night owl system. I didn’t have to rerun wires the new cameras plugged right into the existing cables and then the dvr was plug and play as well. Still working on getting familiar with the new system but so far so good I’m happy with it. The only reason I didn’t give it a five star is because I’m still getting familiar with the system.

Replacement

We hooked this DVR up to another set of cameras already hard wired in our home.  (That system was through Q-See who apparently went out of business during the pandemic. The DVR we had for the Q-See system had started making noises and we believe the fan was starting to go).  This works perfectly EXCEPT our TV is only HD and we didn't realize it needed to be a 4K in order to put the program onto the TV itself.  It works fantastically though via our mobile devices and that actually has been working out well.  The DVR is quiet.  Eventually we will install the four cameras that came with this DVR.

The DVR does what it needs to do

Just bought this a week ago, 6/19/21, and the product was really what I expected, pros:
1. easy set up and configuration, and installation
2. pictures in live view or review were crystal clear, even with zoom in
3. broader view angle, 85 degree
4. No connection hiccup viewing via mobile devices so long as you have good wifi bandwidth
Minor cons:
1. No audio recorded or in Live view
2. there are 1 or 2 sec delays between actual happenings and recordings
3. False positive alerts with one of my cameras and no sensitive settings to control it except turning on/off
4. the DVR was so hot, esp. at the HD location as its vent designed were not good; I had to place a small external fan and it helped

Great pictures

I bought this item/kit, and the first one was DOA (no output signal yo the TV), the replacement one DID come fairly quickly but I was getting a weak output signal from it too as the TV would flash off and on, Customer Experience

but I used another hdmi cable and it seems OK for now. Overall, I like the pictures and the camera coverage. If it wasn’t for the first dvr being faulty, I would have given it 5 stars.

DP8-12 wired camera system…..

The cameras and system meet expectations yet installation was a nightmare. The system had NOT  been upgraded before packaging and that step had to be completed before install. Not easy to accomplish for the D-I-Y guy.. the online help desk was was difficult to work with.. would have just returned the product to Sam’s if not 30 miles away! What should have been a couple hour install took all day!

Camera system not ready to install out of the box

The worst product I’ve ever used. If I have known this product. I’ll never bought it. Quality of the picture is horrible. The software is terrible is well. Even though they give it to me for free. I don’t even want it. I don’t know it sell for $1000.00 dollars.

Have nothing but problems with this system. Reaching Night Owl is next to impossible!! If you text them you lose them when they want you to delete the app. We have sat here with 3 cameras setup because didn’t know if it’s going to work , why put them all out and have to take them down
