This is my 2nd one I have bought. The first one is 12,000 BTU (2 yrs old) from Sam's Club and it cools my whole living room and kitchen. These are very quiet to run keep at fan speed 50 and you forget it's even on. They are very efficient compared to the older style window units. This 8,000 BTU one is for our bedroom and Very happy with this unit.
