ION Audio HydroGroove Floating Party Speaker with Lights would have been a BLAST to have during my college days. Floating down the Guadalupe River down in New Braunfels Texas. Great times!! We would have to improvise and make our own water resistant radios out of old coolers and marine speakers. ION Audio was genius with this design. I can see this being very popular with college kids and families with backyard pools. I really enjoy mine. I currently use it every time I head to the coast and spend the weekends on the Texas Coast. With no fear of my speaker getting ruined i just turn it on, slap on some country music and let it play. The run times are pretty good. I enjoy blaring my music super loud, so my run times are a lot less than advertised but still good enough for an afternoon at the pool. The 10 light modes makes it even more fun especially at subset or after dark. Big hit with the kids adults and pets alike hahah Great sound with the side facing tweeters and good bass from the top bass sub. All in all, an exceptionally well made product at a good price. Thanks to ION Audio for allowing me to test out this speaker at no cost to me and look forward to testing out your other products!! Keep innovating and making good quality products that we NEED.

Very convenient for beach goers and college floate

First off, I love the portability of this unit. The sound is great and the build feels pretty sturdy. I think it would be a pretty good value for your money (could be a little cheaper) connectivity is super easy and connects right to your phone via Bluetooth. Thanks

FREAKIN' AWESOME!! GREAT sound quality with ZERO delay when using multiples!!!!!
These suckers sound great and when connecting multiples they play flawlessly with absolutely no delay from one to the other.  We got 4 of them while on sale and tested them out placing them all over the house. The audio had absolutely no delay from one to the other and sounded GREAT!   Whichever one you turn on and set up the “party mode” feature with controls them all simultaneously controlling audio playback, lights, on and off. Best audio and connectivity we've found over the years.  Also have cool light show features! These beat out my Bose!!! Extremely Impressed!!  Worth every penny!! And WATERPROOF within reason as needed for a pool!  HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

AWESOME SPEAKERS!!!

Great sound, very loud and the lights are awesome in the pool, has different settings that keeps the party going and you can hook it to a kayak to jam on the river.  We love it!

Party in the pool 🥳

A great speaker.  Even though we can't use it in the pool yet, we filled the tub and it floats and sounds great!  Looking forward to using it in the pool this summer.  Solidly built and really fun!

Was on sale for $50, returned it cause its not loud enough for a hot tub, for a pool/river/lake yeah sure its fine, at $80 there might be better options out there unless you want it to use for the lights at night. 

The rubber and plastic actually feels rugged and well made in your hands. The sound was pretty loud at max volume with not much distortion on vocals even when watching videos. The lighting is cool, you wont notice it much during the day but if you are using it at night or indoors with the lights off it adds a cool factor to the water, and the dancing effect on the sub looks nice even during the day. Especially if you have kids or use it at night it's a cool effect for the price.

However I returned it, I ran into two issues that make it unusable for me. First is a massive issue with the firmware. The app kept bugging me to update it so I did. I am into tech and overclocking so I know how firmware works, and it was a disaster. I had it plugged into the charger with my phone right next to it and 20 minutes later it was still stuck at 0%. The app crashed and then wouldn't connect back to the device. I tried all the troubleshooting and even asked the AI on their own website and it basically told me it was bricked. There is no reset button, no pinhole, and no way to reset this thing manually. The AI told me it has limited info because the device is so new the app doesn't even fully support it yet. If your firmware fails you just have to return it to the store.

The second issue is that it is just not loud enough for a hot tub. The moment I turned the jets on it just wasn't loud enough anymore. It would work for about 5 seconds until enough water splashed on top to submerge the main speaker and then it just sounded muffled like you were standing outside the doorway of a club. You can't really hear voices in music and youtube videos or audiobooks might as well been muted. The only way it works is if you play crazy bass to blast the water off or if you flip it over every 10 seconds to pour the water off. At that point you might as well just get a bigger speaker that isn't waterproof and set it to the side.

If you are getting this for a pool or to use in a lake/river sure its fine, if it will be used at night the lights are a huge bonus and kids will love the dancing water effect, but if its for a hot tub or its going to be in a loud area you likely will have a hard time hearing sound once enough water covers the top main speaker....then theres the issue with the firmware that I find wild, like how are you going to have firmware updates over Bluetooth and have no way to flash it if it fails.

It was cool turning off the lights in the basement and having the Hydro spinning around the tub putting on a show while blasting EDM, but most of the time I am listening to an audiobook/podcast/video for 30 to 40 mins and it just doesnt work for that when the jets are on.

Cool and Fun but Not loud enough for Hot Tubs

The speaker is decent but the light is terrible. I bought this thinking it would provide some light in my pool but even in the pitch black, you can barely see the underwater light. It might be already just for the speaker function but if you have any interest in the light, don't buy this.
