I would not recommend the doorbell camera. We are getting ready to replace ours. It says it has a 30ft range, we've adjusted the settings and tested this out. It does not notify us of anything further out than 6-7ft. That is a huge disappointment. At our previous house we had a nest doorbell and loved that. We've reached out to customer service and they are near impossible to get ahold of and work with so I don't anticipate an answer to why we don't get notifications further out from the doorbell. We also have the thermostat and don't really have any complaints on that. It has disconnected a couple times to the point that we had to disconnect from the wall to get it to work again, but it has been a couple months since we've had that issue.

Costly Repairs, Unsafe Device, and Unacceptable Cu

Worst customer-service experience ever. I paid an electrician twice to install and update the transformer Ecobee recommended. When I called again, support demanded photos of the wiring, transformer, and electrical meter—even though everything is about 10 feet up the wall. I am not an electrician and should not be expected to perform electrical troubleshooting for them. The representative coldly ended the call because I could not provide those photos. No apology, compassion, or effort to help. Their support is extremely difficult to reach, lacks competency, and seems focused on blaming customers and avoiding warranty responsibility—even after paying extra for professional support. The device also becomes extremely hot, which feels like a serious safety risk. Ecobee, you owe me reimbursement for the electrician fees and this defective product. Buyers, beware.
