About this item

Product details

Create numerous dishes using this bag of baking potatoes. Russet potatoes have hearty skin that's tender when cooked. These fresh potatoes are the ideal size and texture for baking on high heat.

How Can You Cook Baking Potatoes?

Baking potatoes can be cooked multiple ways in the oven:

  • Form bite-sized pieces by cutting the potatoes into chunks, tossing in olive oil and sprinkling with herbs.
  • Make the traditional oven-baked potato and top it with chives, butter, sour cream, cheese and bacon bits.
  • Create Hasselback Potatoes by making vertical slices all throughout the cooked fresh vegetable, inserting slices of cheese in-between and drizzling the top with olive oil.
  • Create tempting potato skins by cutting a few potatoes lengthwise, scoop out some of the interior, brush with oil and bake until crisp. Add bacon and cheese to the inside, and place back into the oven for a few minutes. Next, top the skins with green onions and sour cream for a flavorful snack.

What's in a Potato?

Potatoes have been a classic dinner staple for many years and there's a good reason for that. While this fresh vegetable looks big in size, water accounts for 70-80 percent of the weight. It's also full of minerals and vitamins. A common misconception is that potatoes are unhealthy, but these vegetables can actually help to improve digestion, boost heart health, reduce cholesterol levels, strengthen the immune system and manage diabetes.

Other Ways to Eat Potatoes

In addition to baking, these fresh potatoes can be prepared in different ways for many recipes. Pan fry or sauté your potatoes to include with your favorite family meal. You can cut these fresh vegetables up to make tasty french fries or slice them very thin to create your very own potato chips. They're also terrific for dishes like hash browns, casseroles, mashed potato, salads and latkes.

How Should I Store My Potatoes?

  • Store your potatoes in a cool, well-ventilated place. Avoid areas that reach high temperatures or receive too much sunlight such as beneath the sink, countertops, or beside large appliances.
  • If refrigerated, let the potato warm gradually to room temperature before cooking to avoid discoloration. When stored in temperatures lower than 50°F, potato's starch converts to sugar which can result in discoloration.
  • Perforated plastic bags and paper bags tend to offer the best environment for extending a potatoes shelf life.
  • No need to wash potatoes before storing because dampness can promote early spoilage.

Best quality and price in the area in my opinion

I use these to make twice baked potates and then freeze them. Baked potatoes in oven not microwave. Cut in two lengthwise and scoop out potatoe leaving a thick shell. Make mashed potatoes. I mix a little sour cream in. Refill shells woth mashed potatoes. Freeze, vaccume seal. When you want to eat them, punch a hole in the bag and microwave until hot. Tastes like you just made them.

Very large Russets!

The reason I don't usually buy russet potatoes in a bag is because they are too small. I like to get the individual ones at the grocery store because they are larger. These potatoes in the 10 lb. bag at Sam's were very large and cooked up nice and fluffy as baked potatoes.

These potatoes are the best!

For the price, these are the best and LARGEST potatoes I can buy! Most are HUGE so you can make a massive baked potato. For the two of us, I can also use one big one and cut up for fried potatoes or homemade French fries. SO worth buying over the tiny ones in the grocery.
