Running Out of These Is a Household Emergency

In my house, it is apparently a SIN to run out of pickles. Everyone in my family seems to believe pickles are a perfectly acceptable snack for any occasion. Hungry? Grab a pickle. Making a sandwich? Grab a pickle. Wandering through the kitchen looking for something to eat? Pickle. Wake up in the middle of the night with a little case of the munchies? Evidently the answer is, once again, pickle. My oldest son is in his mid-30s now, has been a grown man for quite some time, and one of the first things he still does when he walks into my house is head for the pickle jar. If I've committed the unforgivable offense of running out, trust me, I hear about it. So yes, we buy the enormous 128-ounce jar. Thankfully, Mt. Olive Kosher Dills are consistently crisp, crunchy, tangy and exactly what my pickle-obsessed family wants. The big jar is a great value when your household goes through them like normal people go through cookies. I can't promise this jar will bring peace and harmony to every family, but in mine, keeping it stocked apparently prevents civil unrest. Five stars. I know better than to run out.

We use pickles as a snack while we are on a high protein diet. I buy the large jar for the quantity and value. The one drawback is the size of the jar. I bought an oversized ziplock bag and put them in there and stored them in our crisper drawer in fridge. They are more juicy than crisp. We love the flavor they add to our salads. I used the pickle juice to make a salad dressing so nothing was wasted.

a real treat for pickle lovers

If you are a serious pickle lover and have the room in your refrigerator, this is absolutely the best deal around for delicious kosher dills. You can see the jar next to a 2 L bottle of soda. it would actually make a really nice gift for someone who loves pickles. It does have to be refrigerated after opening, so make sure you’ve got the fridge room for it.
