Perfect to use if your air conditioning is broken.  Perfect to use by itself.  Perfect to use a a supplement to AC in a room when the temps are 100+ .  It cools a 12 x12 room fast to 68 -70 degrees with the door shut within 20 min.  If the door is left open 9 -10 inches, it cooled the room, not to the set temperature, but helped to cool the dinning room.living room and hallway.  It is perfect for 1-2 rooms.  My understanding (dont get upset if i am wrong) media is a chinese company that makes some whirlpool products and some whirlpool parts.  There is the background for the quality and function of this product.

The best product

We purchased this portable A/C unit when our aging HVAC system bit the dust during hottest 2+ weeks in July.  I took over 2 weeks to get the new HVAC system ordered and installed.  During which this portable A/C unit kept our living room at a comfortable low 70 temp/low humidity, even though the living room is open on one end (no wall).  This made it possible to survive comfortably, even sleeping in the living room, if needed.

Excellent portable A/C unit

Needed this little unit while waiting on part for central air repair.  Easy to set up and cooled my bedroom easily. Didn’t need to drain any water while operating in the cool setting; was concerned since other reviewers noted having to drain but I think that is in error. I live in S Texas and it is very humid and still no water to drain as it likely evaporates itself out in the cool setting.

Hot cooling review!!!

The cooling unit works well, but some confusion about the draining process, and highly recommend the exhaust hose modification. In the humid Carolinas the drain can produce a gallon or more of water in 2-3 hours. I have the hose attached to the upper drain and into a container I empty frequently. However, if I plug the upper stopper and remove the drain hose, the unit continues to cool and function without manual draining. I don't understand the purpose of draining manually and all the hassle? It seems to work just as well? I'm guessing the exhaust heat from the unit is drying up the water on its own? Instructions and info I found online were not clear about this.
Also be prepared to deal with the units exhaust hose which may need to be lengthened/modified to reach a window etc. The exhaust hose also gets very hot and really needs to be insulated or your really adding a lot of heat to the area you are trying to cool. I wrapped mine with thick fabric to try and contain the heat. There are kits you can buy to insulate and lengthen the exhaust hose. You might be able to use some HVAC flexible hose for this purpose as well.

Works well, with some explanation

Purchase the machine to use in my living room. The windows in my living room are irregular shaped and they won't fit a window AC unit. The unit works very well. It does manage to cool the space adequately.

When a window ac won't work

I brought 2.  Thought both were new but I was wrong. One box only had the A/C, the remote and other items were not included. It looked like it was used and it keeps cutting off. Both do not get the room cold as stated. They will be returned.

Midea Portable A/C

This AC will work well......depending on where you live.....NOWHERE on the box or instructions show a bucket or tub are needed for additional drainage in the South Eastern USA where humidity is at higher levels than the desert.  It was good that the mobile app notified us that we DID indeed need to install addtional hoses for the condensation drainage....one hose was provided, but the 3/4" hose adapter drainage was not provided. It will stop cooling until drain lines installed into buckets....it DOES explain that in the manual, AFTER purchase.....so, I would highly reccommend this if you DON'T live in the South Eastern United States.....unless you want to add 2 additional hoses for drainage. See attached pics of purchased box and reality.

It works GREAT....with EXTRA drainage hoses

I bought 4 Midea a/c units. I used 2 of 4 units and both were defective and wont cool properly,  the compressor shuts off after about an hour of operation and starts shaking. Im returning all 4 units, im going to Try another brand like whirlpool
I have other whirlpool units and they work well.
