About Samsung Ovens & Ranges
Samsung Range Buyers Guide
Are you looking to bring your kitchen into the 21st century? If you want to cook like the best while you improve your skills, you want a stove and oven that are more than reliable, you want something actively helpful. Samsung's commitment to innovation goes beyond their smartphones, and their appliances use many of the same smart technologies that have made them a household name. In this guide, we'll talk about the types and features of Samsung ranges (single unit kitchen appliances that combine a stove and an oven).
How many years do Samsung ranges last?
Samsung has made appliances for over a century, but their modern home appliances division began in the early 2000s, so it's hard to say how many years they last on average, because many of them have not reached the end of their life expectancy yet. A cooking range is expected to last between 10 and 15 years before it starts seeing problems, and Samsung freestanding and slide-in gas ranges, electric ranges, and dual fuel ranges appear to be meeting standards.

Types of Samsung Ranges
There are three fuel types for ranges: Electric, gas and dual fuel, as well as two common styles: Freestanding and Slide-in. Let's talk about them briefly.
Electric Range
Electric ranges use electricity to heat their stovetops and ovens. In many older models, this meant electric coils upon which you would place your pots and pans. In modern ranges, it is most common to have a smooth cooking surface with outlined heating zones where the electric heat can warm pots and pans. One new technology is induction stovetops require special magnetic cookware to generate heat in the pots and pans without heating the stove surface. Samsung induction ranges also have a virtual flame that visual cues you as to how hot your cookware is as if you were looking at a gas burner.
Electricity powered ovens are often more precise for baking than gas ovens because gas ovens may get hot pockets of gas that can cook and even burn baked goods unevenly.
Gas Range
Gas ranges use propane or natural gas to heat their stovetops and ovens. Cooking with open flames is faster to reach high temperatures than using electricity. Flames also provide a visual cue as to how hot a surface is. This is great for stovetops. This can work well with ovens, especially convection ranges. However, gas ovens can sometimes cook unevenly, perhaps burning your meal.
Dual Fuel Range
Dual fuel ranges provide the best of electricity and gas. The stove is powered by gas burners, while the oven is precisely controlled by an electric bake element.
Freestanding Ranges vs. Slide-In Ranges
Freestanding ranges are fully enclosed with finished siding and controls at the back of the unit.
Slide-in ranges only have finished tops and fronts so they nicely integrate into the designs of your countertops and kitchen islands. To make this built-in look work, they have their controls at the front edge of the unit. Slide-in ranges are a more modular and affordable alternative to the built-in wall ovens provided by some luxury manufacturers.
What Features Should I Consider on a Samsung range?
- Fuel Type: We've already talked about this above but beyond your preferences know what your kitchen is ready to support. If you don't have a gas line to your stove, consider if you're ready to install one.
- Burners: How many do you need? Do you heat large pots of water for pasta and want a dual-power setting to speed up that boil? Or do you want a smooth surface for easy cleaning?
- Oven Capacity: Samsung makes this easy. All models are 5.8 or 5.9 cubic feet.
- Single Oven or Double Oven: The Samsung FlexDuo design is excellent because it allows double oven functionality without needing a dual door design. But if you're not cooking complex meals or multiple bakes, a single oven may be enough.
- Warming Oven: Does your family not always gather when you're ready? Or do you occasionally have especially large roasts, this feature is meant for you.
- Convection Ovens: Samsung has a variety of options from true convection fans to the dual convection oven. Convection makes an even bake, but extra fast and super consistent comes with a cost.
- Self-Cleaning and Steam Cleaning: No one likes bending into an oven with cleaning solution. With these settings, you won't need to.
- Wi-Fi-connectivity: Make your range part of your smart home with notifications when your water is boiling or when it's time to pull your meal out of the oven.
What Finishes do Samsung ranges come in?
Most Samsung ranges come in stainless steel and black stainless steel, with some fingerprint resistant options. Some Samsung ranges offer a new Tuscan finish with a rustic copper color that beautifully blends and pops with various interior kitchen designs.
